Clemens Kaudela (34) is an expert in big jumps, whether building or jumping. In 2023, he was the first Austrian to take part in the Red Bull Rampage. Here during trail building for the final in Utah.
The Austrian from the village with the funny name Unterstinkenbrunn (near Vienna) is one of the best professional freeriders in the world. Clemens Kaudela became known for his big jumps, the so-called Big Airs, for example at the Darkfest in South Africa, the Audi Nines slopestyle contest or his own video projects such as "The Minister". Here he says what he thinks - in plain language. Sensation in freeride sport 2023: The organising team of the Red Bull Rampage invited Clemens Kaudela as first Austrians for the super competition into Utah's rocky desert. Top performance in trail building and training, but then bad luck struck. Mishap in the first final run. Then the second run. Everything seemed to be going well, but then Clemens overshot the landing of the biggest step-down jump in his run.

The brutal facts: After falling 18 metres, Clemens was thrown over the handlebars, rammed his shoulder into the ground and tore his shoulder ligaments - a rather minor injury considering the height of the fall.

In 2024, the fearless freerider took part in the Rampage again, this time breaking his hip during training. Bad luck again! But the Rampage chapter is far from over for the likeable "Viennese". His motto: "I'll be back" - and when he says it with a Viennese inflection, it sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The fact is, hardly any other professional freerider has exactly the skills that make Clemens Kaudela the ideal Rampage candidate: Courage, almost limitless airtime potential, tricks and plenty of experience as a trail and jump builder.

Dream team: Viennese freeriders Clemens Kaudela, Daniel & Elias Ruso. There are very few big air events where the three Austrians are missing.

Here, professionals say what they think: Clemens Kaudela says what?

Only a US truck is a real truck, everything else is a toy.
Flat, low berms in the bike park make me want to vomit. High & steep is the motto!
If I have to laugh at the sight of a jump because it's so sickly big - then you've done it right.
Fête blanche, all in white? No way, I can't handle that.
If there's one celebrity to meet, it's Arnold Schwarzenegger!
My new credo: If in doubt, aim for the bush!
I'm rooting for Andy Kolb in the World Cup, if only out of patriotism. But also the young maniac: Rónán Dunne, because he always rides at the limit - super!
Red Bull Rampage? Nah, I've got maximum pulse at check-in at the airport!
Whether in terms of cubic capacity or building jumps - I believe that more is more.
Watching series on Netflix? No, that's not really my thing. I usually fall asleep as soon as I switch on the TV.
I recently went to a concert for the first time. I went to see the Scooters. That was soooo cool. I've missed out on concerts and festivals so far in my life!
