It's official: the range extender for Fazua's Ride 60 will not be available.
Fazua riders have been waiting years for the range extender for the Ride 60 light motor, but now it is clear that the manufacturer has finally cancelled the development of the additional battery. Fazua has now confirmed this when asked by BIKE.

It is a popular concept for light e-bikes: a small, permanently installed battery ensures that the bike weighs as little as possible. For longer tours, the range can be increased with an additional battery in water bottle format. This way, you only carry the extra weight when you really need it. Many Fazua buyers will also have had this idea. Now it's clear: nothing will come of it! Fazua confirmed this to us on request.

Fazua confirms that the range extender for the Ride 60 system will not be launched. We recognise that this decision will disappoint many drivers and regret that previous announcements have raised expectations that we are unable to meet. By withdrawing from the range extender project, we are focussing our resources on ensuring the long-term reliability of the Ride 60 system, providing valuable software updates and ensuring comprehensive support for all riders. Our customer service team will be happy to answer any questions users may have. - official statement from Fazua

Communication debacle surrounding range extenders

Rumours started almost at the same time as the launch of the new Ride 60 in spring 2022: in addition to the 430 battery, there would also be a range extender. Fazua explicitly did not communicate these plans to the public at the launch. Bike manufacturers who wanted to sell Fazua bikes were more open about the "secret" - after all, they wanted to create arguments for their new Ride 60 bikes. This led to high expectations in the Fazua community at an early stage. The following months and years turned into a long wait.

Fazua then officially exhibited the "Energy 210" additional battery itself at Eurobike 2024. 1.1 kilos, 215 watt hours - that was the promise. The current difficult situation in the bike industry and the plans of the automobile giant Porsche, which has since taken over Fazuahave probably spelt the end of the project.

Other updates for Fazuas Ride 60

Small consolation: Fazua recently upgraded its 430 Wh battery to a new 480 Wh batterywith the same size and minimal additional weight. The new remote has also significantly upgraded the system.
