Groningen may not boast a huge amount of vertical metres, but the old town promises a technically challenging course. Germany's best slopestyler Patricia Druwen is already checking out the situation. Women will also be competing in the main event for the first time in 2026.
The world's most spectacular urban slopestyle event is celebrating its comeback in 2026 - and at a completely new location. Instead of the usual venue in the Franconian metropolis of Nuremberg, the Red Bull District Ride will be held in the Netherlands for the first time. Date: 25 and 26 July 2026, venue: Groningen.

The Red Bull District Ride is the most spectacular urban mountain bike event in the world - and is regarded as the ultimate challenge for the best slopestylers. A specially built course is set up in the centre of an old town, demanding technical precision, creativity and absolute bike control. And all this in different districts (hence the name: District Ride), each with a different character.

Narrow alleyways, high drops, massive jumps and complex obstacles transform the city into a spectacular bike course. The Red Bull District Ride stands for the fusion of action sports and urban culture and attracts both top international athletes and thousands of enthusiastic spectators. 2026 now in the city of Groningen in the north of Holland with a population of 250,000.

New location: Groningen in Holland

"Groningen is a young city in the north of the Netherlands - the perfect District Ride debut in Holland," says Sports Director Tarek Rasouli. Everyone knows that Holland is synonymous with cycling. Now one of the most spectacular slopestyle events ever is set to take place here - and very soon.
Date: 24 and 25 July 2026.

"Sure, there's not much of a gradient here, but we'll be putting lots of wooden features in the city centre. It's going to be a mega show," says Rasouli.

The District Ride is part of the newly founded Slopestyle Super League - a mix of FMB Gold and FMB Diamond events - and comprises a total of seven competitions: two events in Europe, three in Canada and two in New Zealand. The District Ride in Groningen is one of them, guaranteeing a high-calibre field of riders.

Exact details of the course and the various districts have not yet been finalised, but will be announced shortly.

Premiere: Women compete regularly for the first time

Women already took part in the Best Trick Award at the last edition of the District Ride in Nuremberg in 2022 and trained on parts of the contest course. Now comes the next step: female riders like the German Patricia Druwen are to compete in the main event for the first time and whirl through the air with spectacular tricks.

What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between.
