The Giant Stance E+ has just been given a brand new look. (Click here for the presentation with all models and prices!) With 125 millimetres at the rear, on paper it is significantly tamer than the competition in our comparison test.
However, little of this is noticeable off-road. The rear suspension is very sensitive and active, which gives the bike a lot of comfort and traction in a seated riding position. When it comes to steep and difficult climbs, no other bike in the test field can hold a candle to the Giant Stance E+.
Only the slightly weaker motor compared to Bosch (Giant Syncdrive Pro 2) somewhat dampens the uphill euphoria. Nevertheless, the front wheel always retains pressure and therefore perfect guidance. The bike follows the line you're aiming for without the rider having to work too hard. The rear wheel shines with plenty of traction. This keeps you in control even on nasty uphill sections.
The bike conveys a similar level of confidence downhill. The long wheelbase of 1274 millimetres in size L provides a lot of riding confidence and smoothness, while the low bottom bracket positions the rider in a relaxed position on the bike. The suspension works very efficiently and only reveals its shorter travel on really hard hits. This makes the bike ideal for sporty and fast trail runs. The good-natured handling is particularly impressive. The bike offers a lot of control even when ridden passively and is easy to control.
The downside: bunny hops and playing around with the terrain are not at all the Stance E+'s thing. Taking the weight off the front wheel requires significantly more effort and momentum than with the other candidates in the test field. Test of six E-Fullys up to 5500 euros. The weight of 25.5 kilos is not impressive, but is perfectly acceptable considering the large 800cc battery and aluminium frame. Too bad: Our test bike rattled noticeably.
Relaxed tour or sporty trail ride? The Stance E+ can do both. With a large battery, you can even do extra laps. Very stable and smooth, but not very playful. Top on the climbs! - Florentin Vesenbeckh, Test Manager EMTB
¹ The reach height was determined during standardised test rides on an asphalt climb with a gradient of 12.2 percent. Highest support level, 150 watts pedalling power of the rider, rider weight incl. equipment 90 kg. The altitude metres in clearly reduced emergency mode are shown in brackets. The average speed refers to the journey with full assistance.
² Determined on the test benches in the EMTB test laboratory, weight without pedals. Battery weight incl. screwed-on cover where applicable.
³ Manufacturer's specification
⁴ Step test, measured with 36 centimetre raised rear wheel
⁵ The judgement reflects the subjective impression of the testers and the results of the reach measurement and laboratory tests. The EMTB judgement is independent of price. EMTB judgements: super (from 9.0), very good (from 8.0), good (from 7.0), satisfactory (from 6.0), with weaknesses (from 5.0), below insufficient.
