Topics in this article

The bike industry is in crisis - bitter for manufacturers, a stroke of luck for customers. Full stocks and falling demand are forcing many bike brands to offer attractive discounts. The result: real bargains with a high fun factor. We show you three offers that are not only easy on the wallet, but also great fun on the trail.

Enduro with all-mountain flair: Radon Jab 10.0

The wheel

The Radon Jab is an old acquaintance. A good one. Because it has always performed well in past tests. The direct mail order company is known for its good price/performance ratio. This offer shows that well. The Jab 10.0 in the All-29 configuration currently costs 2999 euros instead of the regular RRP of 4199 euros.

The offer

For the asking price, you get a harmonious spec with classy Fox Factory suspension, powerful Magura MT5 brakes and grippy Continental Kryptotal tyres. You can find more details about the bike in our detailed test.

Personally, I tend to favour the MX setup - this model is also currently on offer at Radon. For € 2999, however, the equipment is a little less luxurious, including "only" Fox Performance suspension.

Whether a classic All-29 or a mullet: opinions differ on this question. We have already ridden the direct comparison - funnily enough even with the Jab. Curious? Click here for the article: >> The perfect wheel size for your bike: Mullet or Full 29?

Trail bike: Commencal T.E.M.P.O

The wheel

I rode the Commencal T.E.M.P.O for a season - and quickly realised where its strengths lie. With 125 millimetres of travel at the rear and 140 millimetres at the front, the trail bike is clearly positioned in a top category. This is precisely what makes it so appealing: The T.E.M.P.O is lively, powerful and feels particularly at home on undulating trails.

When it comes downhill, the bike demands a clean line, riding skills and a bit of arm strength. Of course, it is not a classic downhill bike - but it doesn't want to be. Instead, the suspension impresses with a lot of counter-pressure and a wonderfully lively ride feel.

At over 14 kilograms, the aluminium trail bike is no lightweight, and you will also be looking in vain for a mullet option. All in all, the Commencal T.E.M.P.O is still a top bike in its class - powerful, full of character and also really stylish to look at.

The offer

For the asking price, you get a bike that is consistently trimmed for trail fun with harmonious equipment: a classy Fox Factory suspension, stable Shimano XT brakes, a precise Sram X01 drivetrain and a sensibly selected tyre combination of Maxxis Dissector at the rear and DHR II at the front. The package is currently available for 4810 euros - instead of the regular 6148 euros.

My conclusion

There are undoubtedly even bigger bargains out there - but if you're currently looking for a consistently designed trail bike with a lot of playfulness and noticeable agility, the Commencal T.E.M.P.O is definitely a very interesting option at this price. - Laurin Lehner, test editor at BIKE

Budget enduro bike: Cube Stereo One77 Pro 29

The wheel

Plenty of travel, playful geometry and a chassis that instils you with confidence straight away: the Cube Stereo One77 Pro 29 left no doubt in the big enduro comparison test and secured the test victory in the 3200 euro segment.

The strong first impression was impressively confirmed in the Oberammergau bike park. The Cube is one of the more agile enduro bikes in the test field and feels noticeably more compact than many of its competitors as soon as you sit on it. This is exactly where you need to pay attention when choosing a size: if you are between two frame sizes, you should definitely go for the larger version.

The offer

The bike is a bargain even without a discount. For 2799 euros you get a DVO chassis, Newmen wheels and Magura brakes. The bike is available at Lucky Bike or Bicycle XXL available. If you want to dig a little deeper into your pockets, you can swap the aluminium chassis for the carbon version with a lightweight C:68X frame for 4999 euros.

My conclusion

The offer is not formally labelled as a discount - but in view of the price and equipment, there is little scope for this. The Cube Stereo One77 Pro 29 is also one of the few Cube bikes that I have really enjoyed in the recent past. - Laurin Lehner, test editor at BIKE

The tipster

Laurin Lehner says he is a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is more fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
