With the R.EX, Rotwild to the recently presented E-Enduro R.EXC and launches an all-mountain bike with an identical rear suspension system. The Elevated Box Design is a mid-high pivot system that does not require chain deflection. Thanks to the only slightly raised pivot point, the bike benefits from an improved wheel lift curve with manageable chain elongation.
In addition, the pivot point position leads to an optimised anti-rise (65 to 49 percent) and anti-squat value (106 to 108 percent), which was requested by the race team. In order to achieve more stiffness in the rear triangle and to realise uniform stiffness, the swingarm is particularly voluminous and gives the bike its unique look.
Just like the R.EXC, the R.EX relies on a Shimano EP801 motor with race software. This provides around 400 instead of 360 per cent maximum support. In addition, the motor now runs for longer, which can provide a decisive advantage in racing situations.
A specially developed 820 Wh battery, which can be removed in seconds at the touch of a button, ensures long-lasting riding fun. Strong: At 3.6 kilograms (EMTB measurement), the battery is exceptionally light for its capacity and is also quite compact. Thanks to the simple removal, the charging socket in the down tube is almost superfluous. A Shimano XT Di2 drivetrain is on board for precise gear changes.
The geometry of the R.EX is modern. In size L, the reach is 485 millimetres. The steering angle is a smooth 64 degrees, while the seat angle of 77.2 degrees puts the rider in a good climbing position. Exciting for trail fans: The Rotwild comes with 436 millimetre short chainstays. This is really short for an e-MTB and should give the bike from Dieburg very agile handling.
The Rotwild R.EX will be available in two versions. The top-of-the-range Ultra model will cost a hefty € 11,490, but will weigh in at just 21.4 kilos with Schwalbe Super Trail/Super Ground tyres. Incidentally, Rotwild has opted for a mullet set-up for the wheel size. The more affordable core version costs 8990 euros.
