Swiss bike manufacturer Thömus is presenting two strictly limited-edition special models to mark the ongoing Mountain Bike World Championships in Valais (30 August to 14 September 2025). The "Race Back Home" edition includes the E-MTB Lightrider E3 Pro RBH in an edition of 100, and the Lightrider R3 WC RBH cross-country bike, of which only 40 will be produced.
Both bikes are characterised by the 3D topography of Valais on the frames, which are painted in bright candy red. The special edition is a tribute to the sport of mountain biking in Switzerland and is intended to emphasise the importance of the home world championships for the manufacturer Thömus.
For more than three decades, Thömus has been shaping the sport of mountain biking, Swiss engineering and local bike culture. The world championships in their own country represent a special moment for the brand and the Thömus maxon team. With the limited edition special models, the manufacturer wants to make this history visible and tangible.
The name "Race Back Home" emphasises the special significance of the home World Championships for the company and its athletes. The three-dimensional topography of Valais on the frame creates a direct link to the World Championship venues such as Verbier, Aletsch, Zermatt and Crans-Montana.
The special models will be used directly at the world championships. Kathrin Stirnemann will be riding the Lightrider E3 Pro RBH at the E-MTB World Championships in Bellwald. It is a special moment for the former world champion: "This bike is absolutely uncompromising - precise, fast, direct. That's exactly what I need for my home advantage at the World Championships in Switzerland," Stirnemann is quoted as saying.
The special models are also used at the highest professional level in the cross-country sector. Team Thömus maxon will be competing with the Lightrider R3 WC RBH at the World Championships in Crans-Montana. Team leader Mathias Flückiger emphasises the importance of the event: "A world championship race in Switzerland is unique. Being at the start with this special bike is an additional motivational boost."
For Thömus, the significance of the World Championships goes beyond a mere marketing statement. Thomas Binggeli, founder of Thömus, summarises the significance of the event: "The World Championships in Switzerland are a historic highlight - for the sport, for our team and for us as a Swiss brand. With the Race Back Home Editions, we are showing how deep this history goes and what is possible when passion, technology and top-class sport come together."
The two special models are integrated into the Thömus Custom Concept. Customers can choose from a variety of high-quality components and configure their bike according to their individual preferences, such as the gear and brake groups, the suspension and the wheels.
Both bikes are available to order now from Thömus and in the Thömus Bike World. Due to the possible configurations, the only thing we can say about the price is that it starts at just under 8,500 (without motor) and 11,000 Swiss francs - i.e. a good 9,100 and almost 12,000 euros respectively. The people from Thömus have also made a series of videos - 5 in total - about their Race Back Home. Take a look. Here is episode 1, the last one is already online since 9 September.
