The new bike case from Post Carry Co. makes it possible to transport racing bikes and gravel bikes without having to remove the handlebars and stem. Marc Mendoza, founder and designer of the company, analysed the geometry data of numerous modern racing bikes and gravel bikes to develop the smallest possible shape. According to the manufacturer, the result is more compact than other cases that leave the cockpit mounted.

The Loomer is available in two sizes. The 333-litre version accommodates frames from medium to 56 cm and measures 128 x 76 x 50 cm. The 370-litre version fits frames up to XL/61 cm and measures 130 x 82 x 50 cm. The smaller size is aimed at riders with smaller frames who do not want to use a standardised case.

Bike transport in a case

Only the wheels, seat post and rear derailleur need to be removed for transport. The pedals can remain fitted, whereby removing one pedal makes it easier to place them in the case. The chain remains on the bike and the rear derailleur is stowed in a padded side bag. The brake discs remain on the wheels and are protected in padded wheel bags. The fork is attached to an aluminium frame that is bolted to the base of the pannier. The bottom bracket sits on a foam block and is secured with straps. The entire interior is lined with foam, so no additional packing material is required. Wheel bags and adapters for thru axles and quick release skewers are included.

Polycarbonate panels for better protection

The side walls are made of thickly padded, corrugated polycarbonate panels. The corrugation runs vertically and is designed to withstand loads from above without compressing. There are further corrugated panels between the two side walls to protect against lateral pressure. The rigid polycarbonate base plate gives the base additional stability. The outer material is Cordura Ecomade P900D, the inner material is polyester 210D. All zips are from YKK.

Foldable bike case

For storage, the panels can be removed from their pockets, folded and stacked in the case. The fabric sides are wrapped around themselves and integrated straps hold everything together. The height is reduced to 30 cm, depending on the initial size of 76 cm or 82 cm. It takes less than five minutes to set up for travelling and less than five minutes to pack up for storage. Separate compartments hold the seat post and derailleur, while additional storage compartments provide space for helmets and cycling clothing.

Easy rolling

The four-wheel system allows it to be wheeled through airports, along pavements and in hotels. The width of the case is based on the maximum handlebar width of 46 cm outside to outside, resulting in a wide and stable base. The swivelling front castors allow it to be pulled and navigated through bends. The Loomer weighs 11.5 kg, with packaging 13.5 kg. With wheel and accessories, the total weight is 22 to 23 kg, which corresponds to the weight limits of most airlines.

The Loomer is designed for racing bikes and gravel bikes. Mountain bikes do not fit in the case. The price is 900 dollars or 775 euros. Pre-orders are available now and delivery from the USA will begin in April 2026. 120 US dollars in shipping fees and customs duties will also be charged.

The disadvantages

One major disadvantage of the product is quickly apparent on the website. There is no telephone customer service and if you have a complaint you have to hope to reach someone by e-mail. The company address is also not disclosed. There is therefore a risk associated with the order if there are problems with despatch or if a damaged case arrives. Orders are shipped directly from the USA to Europe. If you are unhappy with the product, you will have to bear the cost of returning it yourself and will not be reimbursed for the outward shipping costs. In addition, a fee of 5 per cent of the purchase price is retained. Another disadvantage of ordering directly from the USA is that customers have to pay the import duty and take care of customs clearance. This could result in an additional 200 euros in import sales tax and customs duties. A spokesperson for the company promised TOUR that they are working on a solution to ship directly from Europe in the future.
