Weybridge and Mainhatten - the new panniers from Deuter
The Weybridge is available in two versions, a smaller 20+5l version in five colours and a larger 25+5l version in four colours. We tried out the 25+5 litre model. With a weight of 922 grams, this bag offers enough space for a multi-day trip or shopping at the supermarket. The material is waterproof and has reflective details in three places, which is particularly useful in poor light conditions. An inner bag with two compartments, including a padded compartment for a laptop up to 15 inches, rounds off the offer. The price is 130 euros for the larger 25+5 litre version and 120 euros for the smaller 20+5 litre version (>> available here).
With a volume of 17+10 litres, the Mainhattan is slightly smaller, but more elaborately finished and, at a price of 200 euros, also significantly more expensive. The bag offers a variety of practical details such as a lid opening with magnetic fasteners and zip, an inside pocket with three compartments, including another padded compartment for a laptop, as well as two outside pockets. The material is also waterproof and has reflective details. The carrying handle and detachable shoulder strap ensure a high level of carrying comfort. With a weight of 1048 grams, the Mainhattan is particularly suitable as a versatile bag for the commute to work or a stroll through town. Simple and flexible fastening system
Both bags feature the Deuter Bagfix system, which allows them to be attached to different tube diameters. The fastening hooks are very easy to adjust and can be clicked in and out with one hand. The plastic protective edges at the bottom corners of the bag are also a practical detail. Only when inserting the reduction rubbers for the different pipe diameters should care be taken to ensure that they are pressed firmly into the holder.
Overall, both bags are very well-made products that impress with their practical features and spacious capacity. While the Weybridge is particularly suitable for travelling and shopping, the Mainhattan is designed as a versatile bag for the commute to work. Both models were rated "very good".
