Thule presents the VeloSpace 3 has developed a new bike carrier for the towbar that has been specially designed for transporting heavy bikes such as e-bikes and mountain bikes. The carrier is characterised by its high load capacity of up to 30 kg per bike and can hold two or three bikes in the basic version. With a separately available adapter, the capacity can be increased to up to four bikes, making family trips or group tours possible.
The Thule VeloSpace 3 offers generous spacing between the transported bikes and is suitable for bikes with a wheelbase of up to 1350 mm. This makes the carrier particularly compatible with modern mountain bikes and e-bikes, which tend to have longer wheelbases.
The innovative bike holder arms have adjustable, rotating heads that can be flexibly adapted to different frame shapes. In combination with the secure straps, this system ensures that bikes are held securely during the journey. The gripper arms are also particularly gentle on carbon frames.
One of the main challenges with bike carriers for the trailer coupling is access to the boot when the carrier is loaded. The Thule VeloSpace 3 solves this problem with a tilting function that can be operated using a foot pedal. A simple press of the pedal is all it takes to tilt the carrier backwards, even with bicycles fitted, to allow access to the boot. In the version for three bikes, Thule also offers a special feature: the tilt angle can be increased from the standard 50 degrees to 70 degrees. This function is particularly advantageous for compact vans with a tailgate, where a larger tilt angle is required to open the tailgate fully.
If you want to increase the capacity, you can purchase the separately available bike adapter for an RRP of 199.95 euros. With this adapter, the capacity of the two-bike version can be increased to three bikes and that of the three-bike version to four bikes. Thanks to the modular expandability, users can flexibly adapt the carrier to their needs and upgrade it as required without having to invest in the larger version straight away.
