Skate park and dirt jump riders need helmets that are robust enough for continuous daily use, yet lightweight and - most importantly - as unobtrusive as possible in terms of design. At any rate, these were the requirements of the Abus slopestyle clique around Lukas Huppert, Tom Isted and Bernd Winkler for a new team helmet. And with the Indy, Abus has developed the head protection that is based on classic skate and BMX helmets and aims to convey the freedom-loving culture of these sports.
The Abus Indy consists of a robust ABS outer shell. Underneath, a shell made of EPS foam offers safety, while three layers of foam padding provide comfort. The adjustable strap is attached to the ABS shell and is fastened with a classic buckle.
A really special feature is the option of dismantling the helmet into individual parts at the end of its life cycle to enable correct disposal of the components.
The Abus Indy is available in three sizes and four colours: black (velvet black), white (pure white), yellow (mustard yellow) and green (pepper green).
The Indy looks great and thanks to the four different colours, there's something for everyone. It's not bulky, feels secure and I also find the chin strap very comfortable. - Kathi Kuypers, slopestyle pioneer, has already tested the ABUS Indy.
The Abus pros Kathi Kuypers, Natalia Budner, Pete Henke and Bernd Winkler have already had the opportunity to test the helmet extensively in Barcelona and La Poma - and obviously had a lot of fun doing so:
