Are you still looking for a nice gift for your loved ones? Preferably something related to biking? Then you've come to the right place. To avoid recommending just anything, here are three products that may not have much of a bling-bling effect, but have already proven their practicality. Curtain up for Peter's top 3 Christmas gifts.
If you're not a fan of electronic shifting and aren't thinking about a battery upgrade on cosy winter evenings, you can skip straight to gift tip number 2. For all Sram AXS users or prospective users, the new Pod Rocker Paddles could be a real treat. The retrofit paddles are compatible with existing AXS pods and can be swapped quickly and easily. Instead of the two buttons, there is now a rocker switch for smooth gear changes. In conjunction with the separate Infinite clamp, the paddles can be perfectly adjusted ergonomically. The main advantage compared to the standard paddles, however, is the option to shift gears with the index finger again. This is even possible in both shifting directions thanks to the nose on the back. Once you've used paddles, you'll never want to go back. Price: 21,95 Euro >> at Bike components available.
The Scott Pro Shield Light Sensitive is a pair of goggles with photochromatic lenses. This means that they adapt to all conditions from dark to light in no time at all and you simply have the right goggles for every purpose, no matter what you're doing. In addition to the large lenses, which offer sufficient protection against wind and mud packs, I particularly like the fit of the Scott goggles. Thanks to the curved earpieces, the goggles sit very securely and don't interfere with the helmet attachment, as is so often the case. With straight temples, these often collide with the neck attachment, which in the long run can either cause pressure pain or start to wobble on downhill runs. Neither of which is pleasant or desirable in everyday biking. Incidentally, the Pro Shield is available in subtle black or bright neon yellow >> e.g. available here.
What could be more annoying and at the same time more dangerous than riding your bike into the dark or even being overlooked? The C14 Mag rear light from Lupine can solve this dilemma and hides inconspicuously between the seat stays. Always ready, the 14 leds provide a highly visible red light with a powerful 45 lumens. In addition to pure visibility, other features such as brake light and brightness sensor are also available. The international version also has a flashing and pulse mode as well as the much better aluminium bracket with magnetic lock, which is attached directly to the saddle rails. The only drawback is that the aluminium bracket requires some space at the rear of the saddle rails. If you ride with the saddle pushed as far forwards as possible, you won't be able to install the C14 Mag. The plastic alternative for the StvZO version is not really suitable for off-road use and is attached to the seat post. Long light duration and simple charging via magnetic plug speak in favour of the C14 Mag rear light. What's more, the battery can even be replaced if the high-quality light runs out of juice too soon after years of use. A replacement battery costs 11 euros, another aluminium seat post holder costs 24 euros. A real tip for Christmas >> e.g. available here.
