The BʼTwin E Three 500 cargo bike from Decathlon is designed for various transport tasks in urban traffic. The 39-kilogram cargo bike measures 220 x 68 x 108 centimetres and offers a total payload of 170 kilograms without tare weight. Of this, 80 kilograms can be distributed to the rear luggage area, while the optional front transport platform can carry 10 kilograms.
The B'Clip system forms the basis for modular transport solutions on the B'Twin E Three 500 Cargobike. The transport capacity can be expanded quickly and easily, without any tools or additional adapters. The system comprises six modules, although these will not be available until the middle of the year: a seat cushion for passengers, a transport box, a basket that can be mounted at the front and rear, a transport bag and two platforms in sizes M and XL with tensioning straps. A patented combination of universal platform and quick-release mechanism makes it possible to switch between basket, load platform or bag with a click.
The rider of the cargo bike is supported by a Vision hub motor in the rear wheel, which generates a torque of 60 Nm. Three support levels are available: Eco, Normal and Boost.
A start-up aid up to 6 km/h makes it easier to get going, especially when fully loaded. The 711 Wh lithium-ion battery is located in the aluminium frame and can be removed for charging. Depending on the load and operating conditions, this should provide a range of up to 85 kilometres.
The drivetrain comprises 8 gears and a single chainring at the front. This combination should be low-maintenance and suitable for urban use. A Suntour suspension fork with 75 millimetres of travel absorbs minor bumps.
A lighting system developed in France automatically switches between day and night mode thanks to integrated sensors. The 60 lux front headlight with a wide beam angle is designed to provide sufficient light without dazzling oncoming road users. The rear light is visible for up to 500 metres and has a brake light function that signals braking.
Four-piston Tektro brakes with 180 mm discs are designed to enable powerful and precise braking. An integrated spoke guard prevents children's feet or long clothing from getting caught between the spokes. Footrests made of PU material provide riders with a stable place to stand.
A waterproof TFT colour display shows information on the bike's performance and offers a digital lock function. An integrated frame lock secures the E Three 500 during short stops. The bike stand with reinforced cross brace supports the weight of the bike even under heavy loads.
Further accessories will be available in spring: A seat cushion, double bike bags, a rain cover for small passengers and an extendable front platform will then be added to the range. The model is available in the colours Abyss Blue, Taupe and Sorbet Green and now available at Decathlon.
