Low step-through, relaxed riding position, favourable equipment. The bike from compact and folding bike specialists Tern makes small and medium-sized transport by bike easy. Our bike has the Clubhouse plus seat cushion and backrest integrated into a Storm Box, which protects a child and keeps it clean and/or works well as a pannier for large shopping trips. It is permanently mounted on the long carrier and can be supplemented with a rain cover. The front carrier (accessory) can carry 20 kilos. Like the entire concept, all of this is relatively simple and modular. The customer orders his bike "naked" (3199 euros) and completes it according to his requirements.
Our version comes in at 4031 euros without the kickstand - and it works perfectly. This is also due to the bike itself: The aluminium longtail has a stiff design despite the pleasantly low step-through. Here too, a speedlifter ensures quick adjustability to body size. With its 75 Newton metres, the Performance Line motor can comfortably manage medium gradients even with a load of 50 kilos - that's how much can be carried on the carrier. A 180 mm disc brakes at the front, while the rear is one size smaller - although the large disc would make a lot of sense with a heavy load on the rear. But even so, the deceleration is sufficient.
The whole thing rolls along pleasantly unagitated and smoothly: the long wheelbase and the well-balanced longtail geometry really do create feel-good handling like on a touring bike. Nevertheless, the manoeuvrability is sufficient for the city. So does the range of the simple 9-speed derailleur, even if we would have preferred a hub gear in combination with the motor and range of use - but the Quick Haul is an entry-level cargo bike, and the price is what counts. And in this configuration, the 4031 is very reasonable. All you get in return is the old Intuvia display on the handlebars and a simple derailleur system. But also, uniquely, space-saving upright parking on the rear wheel.
Smooth chassis and easy riding, many modular equipment options, very good customisation. The Quick Haul offers a good introduction to minicargo biking.
