The Dutch e-bike manufacturer Tenways is expanding its portfolio with a high-performance compact bike. The AGO Compact Performance combines the advantages of a compact frame with full drive technology from Bosch.

Topics in this article

In addition to the sister model CGO Compact with Bafang motor, which we have also already tested, Tenways has opted for the new AGO Compact Performance on Bosch technology: The Bosch Performance Line motor delivers 75 Nm of torque, powered by a 545 Wh battery. The manufacturer specifies a range of up to 100 kilometres - a value which, as usual, depends on riding style, support level and topography. At a price of 2999 euros, the Bosch model is around 1000 euros more expensive than the Bafang model.

Tenways relies on a combination of Shimano Nexus 5-speed hub gears and Gates CDX carbon belt drive for the drive - a low-maintenance solution that has proven itself in urban use in particular. The absence of derailleur gears significantly reduces maintenance requirements.

Compactness as a concept

With 20-inch tyres (2.4" wide), the AGO is significantly smaller than conventional e-bikes. The Byschulz Speedlifter stem can be rotated by 90 degrees, which, together with folding pedals, should make it easier to transport. An integrated carrying handle and the low entry emphasise the focus on users with limited storage space. The adjustable head tube is designed to accommodate different body sizes.

Equipment and details

The standard equipment includes hydraulic disc brakes, a Bosch colour display, integrated lighting and a suspension seat post.

The integrated lighting system ensures visibility in road traffic. Internally routed cables protect the components from the weather. Hydraulic disc brakes work in all weather conditions. Aluminium mudguards protect against splash water and dirt.

The 20 x 2.4 inch Tenways tyres are designed to combine compactness with stability. They are designed for use in urban traffic.

The MIK HD carrier uses the Click-and-Go system. It is compatible with various accessories such as child seats, baskets or bags. It is mounted without tools by clicking the components into place.

Price and availability

The Tenways AGO Compact Performance is now available at a recommended retail price of 2999 euros. This positions the model in the mid to upper price segment for compact e-bikes. For the market launch, the manufacturer is offering an early bird discount of 200 euros (valid until 27 April). The bike is available in three colour variants: Autumn Red, Midnight Blue and Sandstone Beige.
