Tenways presents the new generation of its CGO009 urban e-bike. The manufacturer combines a sleek city bike design with extensive connectivity functions and natural motor support. Price: only 2,199 euros.

The CGO009 relies on a Smart Connect Module integrated into the top tube, which offers numerous functions via the Tenways app: GPS tracking to locate the bike, motion detection in the event of unexpected activity and a zone notification if the bike leaves a defined area (geo-fencing). The bike is unlocked contactlessly via Bluetooth or NFC - all you need is a smartphone or NFC tag. An electronic bell is also built into the module.

Tenways is thus consistently thinking ahead with its e-bike and adding many features that classic e-bikes do not offer, even at much higher prices. This is also made possible by the use of a lot of in-house technology and Chinese roots. How well this can work in practice has just been demonstrated by our test of the Tenways CGO Compact has shown.

Dutch design meets modern technology

Visually, the CGO009 is modelled on classic Dutch city bikes: The parallelogram frame geometry with slim seat stays and fully integrated cable routing ensures a tidy silhouette. The fully integrated cockpit with colour display and dash control controls most of the functions. Even more is available via app. Smart features such as GPS tracking are included in the purchase price for one year. After that, you have to take out a subscription, similar to Bosch's Connect module.

Natural support with 45 Nm

Propulsion is provided by the Tenways C9 rear hub motor with torque sensor and 45 Nm maximum torque. Three support levels adapt the power to the riding situation, while a boost button provides extra power at the touch of a button. The low-maintenance Gates Carbon belt works quietly and cleanly. There is no need for oiling and maintenance as with a chain. However, there is no gear change. The energy is supplied by a removable 374 Wh battery in the frame.

Other features include hydraulic disc brakes, a StVZO-compliant lighting system with automatic daytime running lights, puncture-proof 55 mm tyres and a Selle Royal saddle. The Tenways is available for 2,199 euros from selected specialist dealers and directly from Tenways in the colours Sage Green, Ice Blue and Midnight Black. Smart functions are included for one year, after which they can be extended by subscription.
