Since 2016, the Daily Grinder has had a permanent place in the Bulls model rangemaking the brand one of the pioneers of the gravel trend. With the current model, Bulls continues the tradition of the classic "randonneur" - a fully equipped touring bike for sporty tours and everyday rides - and reinterprets this concept with state-of-the-art technology.
The Bulls Daily Grinder 3 is based on a lightweight aluminium frame, which is combined with a weight-optimised Bulls Machete carbon fork. According to the manufacturer, the geometry is balanced and requires no compromises in terms of handling and riding position. Modern standards such as the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) derailleur hanger and thru-axles on the front and rear wheels emphasise the technical claim of the bike. A decisive advantage over classic touring road bikes is the tyre clearance: the Daily Grinder offers space for 45 millimetre wide tyres - significantly more than the 32 millimetres that were the maximum in the days of rim brakes, especially when mudguards are fitted.
The Daily Grinder 3 is fully equipped for everyday use. This includes mudguards, a rear rack for hanging bags on the side and a side stand mounted in the centre of the chainstay, which is designed to provide a secure hold even when loaded. The lighting system consists of a Shutter Precision hub dynamo and a 70-lux front spotlight, which ensures good visibility in the dark. Numerous mounting points on the frame and fork allow additional bags and accessories to be attached, which is particularly advantageous for touring and travelling.
When it comes to drivetrain technology, Bulls has opted for a contemporary solution: while the classic randonneur was once the first bike with a triple chainring, the Daily Grinder 3 has a Shimano GRX RX 822/610 1x12-speed drivetrain with an extremely wide-ratio 10-51 cassette. This configuration offers a wide range of gear ratios for different terrain profiles and riding situations.
The tyres are Schwalbe G-One Comp TLR tyres with a width of 45 millimetres, which should offer good grip and comfort on both asphalt and dirt roads. For smartphone use, an SP-Connect mount is fitted to the stem, which allows the mobile phone to be securely attached - practical for navigation or checking fitness data.
Johannes Koch, Bulls Product Manager, emphasises the qualities of the new model:
"The new Daily Grinder 3 is our state-of-the-art interpretation of a proven classic. A clever choice of components and the advantage of numerous mounting points make it the ideal gravel bike for everyday use, touring and travelling."
In addition to the Daily Grinder 3, Bulls is also offering two other model variants: The Bulls Daily Grinder 2 with 10-speed gears and carbon fork is also available immediately and costs €1,599. This will be followed in mid-January by the Bulls Daily Grinder 1 for €1,399, which is also equipped with a carbon fork and a 10-speed Shimano Cues drivetrain.
All models are available in four frame sizes. While the Daily Grinder 3 is available in three colour variants (Light Green Marbled Black, Midnight Matt and Pebble Grey), there are two colour options to choose from for each of the other two models. With a price of €1,799 for the top model, Bulls has positioned the Daily Grinder 3 in a competitive price segment, particularly in view of the extensive equipment and the combination of everyday practicality and sporty off-road qualities.
