Spanish bike manufacturer MMR Bikes is expanding its portfolio with the KIBO 24 - a mountain bike specially designed for young riders aged between 8 and 12. With a retail price of 649 euros, the 24-inch children's bike is positioned in the attractive price-performance segment for high-quality children's MTBs.

Topics in this article

Children's bikes are usually universal multi-tools. They are intended as a means of transport, play equipment and sports machine. This doesn't make choosing the right bike easy. Park the sinfully expensive fully in the school playground every day and rock it down the street? Or gain your first off-road experience with a city bike? Neither is ideal. The MMR Kibo 24 aims to find a good compromise. The price remains fair for a sporty mountain bike. After all, sporty hardtails in this segment can easily cost over 1000 euros.

However, parents and children will have to do without too much high-tech on the Kibo. Trail tools such as a suspension fork or lowerable dropper post are understandably not to be found. Advantage: Despite the price pressure, the weight of the bike should remain within reasonable limits. Unfortunately, the Spanish manufacturer does not provide any specific details.

Independent concept with a focus on kids

The Spanish developers emphasise: The MMR KIBO 24 is not a simple miniature version of an adult mountain bike. Instead, the developers have designed the children's bike from scratch, taking into account the anatomical characteristics and needs of young cyclists.

The child-friendly geometry is designed to ensure that even smaller riders can adopt an optimum riding position. This not only makes it easier to control the bike, but also promotes a healthy posture when riding.

Lightweight construction meets stability

With the KIBO 24, MMR places particular emphasis on low weight without compromising on stability. A lightweight mountain bike is particularly important for children: it is easier to handle, accelerate and control in difficult terrain. At the same time, the robust design offers the necessary safety for first off-road adventures.

The choice of components is geared towards the developmental stage of young mountain bikers. According to the manufacturer, brake levers, shifters and crank lengths are dimensioned so that children can easily reach and operate them - an important factor for safety and growing self-confidence on the trail.

Conclusion: Solid entry-level MTB with potential

With the KIBO 24, MMR Bikes delivers a well thought-out children's mountain bike for 649 euros, which is particularly suitable for off-road beginners. Without a suspension fork and telescopic seat post, the weight and price remain fair. It is not a real special tool for ambitious bike kids. However, it offers a successful mix for everyday use and first off-road adventures.
