Winora has deliberately positioned the Yucatan as an all-rounder between city traffic, cycle paths and easy terrain. With this orientation, the Schweinfurt-based brand has hit a nerve: many e-bike buyers are looking for just such an all-rounder that masters the daily commute to work just as confidently as the after-work ride through the countryside or the weekend tour. In keeping with this, the Yucatan is approved for a system weight of up to 150 kilos.
Working at the centre of all three Yucatan models the Bosch Performance PX motor (tested here) from the current Smart System. The mid-motor delivers 85 Nm of torque as standard - more than enough power for a trekking e-bike to tackle even steeper climbs with ease if the right gear is selected.
Interesting: The Bosch Flow app can be used to boost the power to up to 90 Nm. A nice feature for all those who occasionally need more thrust. The Auto Mode Plus function is also designed to automatically adapt the assistance to the riding situation - without manual switching between modes.
Winora differentiates between the battery capacities depending on the model: the entry-level X9 model comes with 600 Wh, while the higher-end X10 and X12 Pro variants offer 800 Wh. Practical: All models are compatible with the Bosch PowerMore 250 Range Extender, which promises additional kilometres of range if required.
The basic model is an affordable introduction to the series. With a 600 Wh battery, Cues 9-speed derailleur gears and everyday features such as lights, mudguards and MIK pannier rack, it offers all the essentials for commuters and occasional tourers. The adjustable stem promises sufficient comfort. The suspension fork and the Intuvia 100 monochrome display are still very basic, which is hardly surprising considering the price. >> available here.
For an extra 300 euros, the X10 not only comes with a larger 800 Wh battery, but also crisp Shimano Deore brakes and 10-speed Cues U6000 gears. A sensible upgrade for anyone who regularly rides longer distances or has high expectations. >> available here.
The top model justifies its price with well thought-out upgrades: four-piston disc brakes provide more braking power and safety, a dropper seat post increases confidence on changing terrain. And the SR Suntour Mobie 34 is a serious air suspension fork that doesn't just respond to hard kerbs. In addition, the large Bosch Kiox 500 display replaces the simpler Intuvia display. We would only have replaced the Deore Hyperglide gears with a more robust model. It offers a full twelve crisp shifting gears. However, with the e-bike optimised Cues drivetrains, the durability should be significantly higher.
The robust MIK HD pannier rack carries up to 27 kilograms and enables the quick mounting of compatible panniers. Wide all-terrain tyres and a balanced frame geometry with a sporty, comfortable riding position should make the Yucatan comfortable to ride even over longer distances. All models are available both as step-through and diamond versions - a plus point for different body sizes and preferences when climbing and descending.
With the Yucatan, Winora has presented a coherent trekking e-bike concept that relies on proven technology and well thought-out equipment. The price-performance ratio is understandable. The X12 Pro in particular, with its good equipment and telescopic seat post, should make buyers with higher demands happy. The first test rides will show whether the Yucatan actually fulfils its all-round promise. On paper, at least, the mix of motor, battery and features is right. Availability in specialist shops has been announced for the 2026 model year.
