The disappointment is huge on social media: On the one hand, of course, for the inventor of the BIKE Transalp, Uli Stanciu. But also for all the bikers who have taken part in the legendary race across the Alps one or more times or even every year since 1998. But the good news is: the BIKE Transalp will not disappear from the race calendar forever, it will only be cancelled for one year.
As the organisers, we did not make the decision easy for ourselves. The reasons for this are primarily due to the enormous financial outlay that we as Delius Klasing Verlag have to make every year, while at the same time the number of participants has not been as high as in the early years for a variety of reasons.
It is also no secret that the bike industry, like many other sectors, is currently facing challenging economic times. We don't want to go into this any further at this point, but rather work critically, but also with a lot of energy and new impulses on a BIKE Transalp 2026. Because, and this is very important for us to emphasise at this point:
We have now decided to take this time out so that we can offer you and ourselves this experience again in 2026. During this time, we will work internally with our partners and sponsors on the preparation, planning and financing of the Transalp restart. We are also doing this in order to critically scrutinise our current concept again and to discuss new ideas and, above all, opportunities - without losing the original Transalp idea and its spirit.
We are always open to constructive criticism - otherwise we look forward to seeing you at the start of our "new" BIKE Transalp in summer 2026!
