A group of five adventurous cyclists embarked on an extraordinary journey to the Gravel bike tour through the Westfjords of Iceland set off. The eight-day journey took the team over a distance of around 600 kilometres through some of the island's most spectacular landscapes. From rugged fjord coasts to windswept plateaus and disused mountain passes, the route offered a variety of challenges and unforgettable impressions.

Despite the rough weather conditions with gale-force winds and sometimes knee-deep water when crossing rivers, the participants experienced unique natural moments such as watching humpback whales or the appearance of majestic northern lights in the night sky. In addition to the nature experiences, the tour also offered insights into Icelandic culture and encounters with locals, including 50 QR codes for tour descriptions, GPS data and tourist highlights.

The development of the bicycle is characterised by technical innovations. From wooden rims on racing bikes in the 1960s to today's lightest road bike weighing less than 5 kilograms, there is a broad spectrum. The book sheds light on important stages of bicycle technology and also introduces remarkable personalities in cycling history. For example, the first woman to cycle around the world in 1894 - a pioneering feat that caused a sensation in its day and demonstrated the possibilities of the bicycle as a means of long-distance transport. Or a Tour de France winner who used his bike to smuggle passports for persecuted Jews. The inconspicuous nature of the bicycle as an everyday object made it an ideal tool for resistance against oppression and persecution.

In "Wow, what a bike!?" Loki wants to design her own bike, but isn't sure what it should look like. That's why Loki seeks inspiration from the extraordinary bike owners in the neighbourhood, who impress with their unique bikes. There is a lot to discover: a bike made from sports equipment, a mobile garden, an art studio with an easel and pots of paint and even a mobile flea market. Inspired by these creative ideas, Loki realises his own bike project and then goes on a bike tour with everyone. The book is a colourful adventure that invites children to explore and experiment and celebrates the joy of community, individuality and the diversity of personal expression.
