A whopping 700 kilometres of trails - you could almost say that Davos is the mountain bike capital of the Alps. It's high time we organised a BIKE Women Trail Camp here. The alpine trails stroll along mountain ridges, squeeze spectacularly through rocky gorges or curve sweepingly through alpine meadows - for many, many kilometres. A few years ago, bikers even set a depth record here on their bikes: 10,000 metres in one day. This is of course made possible by the cable cars, which help you uphill in all directions, but also by the gigantic trail network itself. It simply doesn't end. In this respect, we will only experience a fraction of it in the four days of the camp. But the camp guides make sure that it will definitely be the crème de la crème of these trail tours.
The Bike Women Camp Davos Klosters will take place from 31 August to 3 September 2023. The hub of our camp will be the 4-star Hotel Ameron in Davos. This is also where the exhibitors will pitch their tents, where we will be accommodated and from where we will set off on our tours. In the evenings, the hotel's own yoga room, a spacious wellness area or even the lounger of a physiotherapist booked especially for us will be waiting for us. Afterwards, we relax on the terrace, where dinner has already been laid out.
In addition to the bike trail rides, there are other highlights on the day's programme: In workshops, professionals will show participants how to optimise their bike to their body measurements. Bike equipment will be handed out for testing and anyone who wants to can book a bike repair course with the exhibitors.
Driving technique/demand: The tour groups are divided into different riding technique levels at the start of the camp and set off with the guides on correspondingly easy to moderately difficult trail laps (short passages up to a maximum of S2 are possible, but can be pushed slightly). On the way, the participants' riding technique is honed at key points such as tight bends, rocky passages or steeper descents. The cable cars in Davos Klosters help to bridge the long climbs into the high Alps. However, the trails in this region not only wind downhill, but also climb a few metres in altitude in between. A medium level of fitness is therefore definitely required for these pedalling and pushing passages.
Sina Frei, Olympic silver medallist in cross country, is an ambassador for Davos Klosters and, despite the ongoing World Cup season, won't miss the opportunity to drop by the camp one evening. Over dinner, she will answer any questions and give tips on her favourite Davos trails.
