The Amflow PL Carbon (tested here) was the first bike with the DJI Avinox super motor to hit the Eurobike 2024 like a bomb. Since then, the E-MTB world has been spinning at a different pace. Avinox is now following up with the new M2 and M2S motors with even more power, and the associated bike brand Amflow is not standing idly by either.
With the PR Carbon, Amflow is responding to a frequently expressed wish from the community: for the first time, the brand is combining a battery that can be removed without tools with the Avinox drive system. In concrete terms, this means that the 800 Wh energy storage unit can be easily removed from the down tube and charged separately - ideal for anyone who parks their bike in the basement or garage. At the same time, the quick-charging function is retained. This was the case with the only bike to date with a removable battery and Avinox motor from Rotwild (tested here) not the case.
With the Amflow PR Pro, the battery can be quickly recharged with the 12 amp charger, while the standard version uses a normal 4 amp charger ex works. Alternatively, an additional 600 watt-hour battery can be attached to the down tube, which can then simply be plugged in for additional range. We do not yet have any details on this.
Amflow has opted for a classic four-link suspension concept with a horizontal shock absorber. The modern carbon frame is said to weigh just 2.9 kilos - only 500 grams more than the version with a fixed battery. According to Amflow, the total weight of the bikes is just 22 kilograms. With a removable battery, mid-range parts and 800 Wh for the price, that would be really strong.
The Amflow PR comes with 29-inch wheels at the front and 27.5-inch wheels at the rear. The idea behind it: The wheel combination is designed to optimise smoothness and agility. A flip chip in the chainstay allows you to switch between wheel sizes without changing the frame's centre of gravity. The steering angle can also be extensively customised using different bearing shells. This should make 40 geometry configurations possible.
Amflow offers the PR Carbon in two equipment variants, which differ primarily in terms of the drive. The PR Carbon Pro (€5,899) is equipped with the new Avinox M2S top motor. This version offers up to 150 Nm peak torque and up to 1500 watts of power. Shifting is electronic with the S1000 transmission and braking with Magura's Gustav Pro. The suspension comes from the Fox Performance series and offers 160 millimetres at the front and 150 millimetres at the rear. The quick charger is included.
Even cheaper is the PR Carbon (4,499 euros) This basic version relies on the cheaper Avinox M2 motor with up to 125 Newton metres and up to 1100 watts of peak power. This is still more than the previous Avinox M1, which was already so powerful that you often had to throttle back the power on the trail. The M2 should therefore be more than sufficient for most applications. In terms of price, the PR Carbon without Pro with electronic S1000 transmission and Fox AWL suspension is in a particularly interesting position. The wheels on both bikes come from Amflow itself - aluminium rims with 30 mm inner width, SAPIM E-Light spokes and Schwalbe Magic Mary/Albert or Maxxis Assegai/DHR II tyres.
Even the previous Amflows were no slow sellers. Now Amflow is taking it to the next level: removable battery, full carbon fibre and a crazy price. For well under 5000 euros, you get the complete package of exuberant motor power, modern electronics and practical battery removal. The latter in particular is certainly what many people wanted for the Amflow bikes. High-quality equipment with Fox suspension and electric gears are a goodie on top. The bike will not be available until the end of 2026. If it performs even halfway on the trail, then the air for the established competition is likely to get pretty thin in the future. - Adrian Kaether, Editor Test & Technology
