On paper, the new R.EXC clearly positions itself in the high-end segment of motorised race enduro bikes - with an engine that blows away the competition in terms of torque and top performance, and a geometry flexibility that is second to none. The only catch is that the powerful DJI unit is excluded from most e-racing formats due to the power conditions. The test will show whether the 45 setup combinations actually make a noticeable difference and make sense in practice. We will let you know as soon as we have driven the car.
Rotwild's new E-Enduro with DJI power doesn't come as a complete surprise. In the summer of 2025, we got a first foretaste at the Eurobike - At that time, however, it was still in prototype status and with the first-generation Avinox drive.
The centrepiece of the new R.EXC is the new Avinox M2S motor. The new unit delivers up to 150 Nm of torque and 1,300 watts of peak power, combined with a compact design. You can find more information about the new motor from DJI here. This is joined by the in-house IPU900 battery: 864 Wh capacity, 3,580 grams, carbon housing and the typical Rotwild quick-release system, which allows the battery to be removed from the down tube in seconds at the touch of a button. The energy source is charged with a 7-amp charger.
The proven mid-high pivot concept with a vertical shock remains the basis - but the main pivot point has been moved further forwards and upwards. According to Rotwild, this allows the typical high-pivot wheel lift curve to be achieved with an almost constant chainstay length. The result: consistent geometry over the entire suspension travel. The carbon swingarm in the elevated box design is also said to combine maximum lateral stiffness with controlled torsional compliance.
170 mm of travel is available at the front, 160 mm at the rear - with the rocker allowing three positions: full travel (160 mm / 16 % progression), mid travel (155 mm / 14 %) and short travel (145 mm / 12 %).
The versatile geometry is the real highlight of the new R.EXC: Rotwild combines three central adjustment points to create a modular geometry platform. The rocker adjusts the suspension travel and progression in three stages. The dropouts of different lengths allow different rear triangle lengths as well as different wheel setups: 29 inch at the rear and front or mullet. For each frame size, Rotwild also adjusts the chainstay length individually to the length of the main frame so that the proportions of the bike remain the same across all sizes. Very few manufacturers are so precise with size-specific geometries. The modular headset, on the other hand, allows the steering angle to be adjusted by ±0.5 degrees and the reach by ±5 mm. If you combine all the adjustment options, the R.EXC 36 squeezes different geometry variants out of one frame platform.

Both equipment variants rely on the same frame made from handcrafted poly-dynamic carbon. On the top model, Rotwild specifies FOX Factory suspension with the Podium USD fork at the front, a Shimano XTR Di2 drivetrain and Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro carbon wheels. The integrated Eightpins seatpost offers up to 225 mm travel in size XL. The mullet setup - 29" front, 27.5" rear - is fitted ex works, but can be reconfigured using the dropouts.
