With the Tharsis Evo handlebar, Pro presents a new component for demanding trail and enduro routes. The handlebars are made from T800 carbon and have a clamping diameter of 35 millimetres.
According to the manufacturer, this design is intended to combine high rigidity for precise steering with sufficient damping of vibrations. This should reduce fatigue on long and technically demanding descents.
The Tharsis Evo handlebar is available in two versions with a rise of 20 and 30 millimetres. With a width of 780 millimetres, 8 degrees backsweep and 4 degrees upsweep, it offers a geometry typical of enduro and trail bikes. The weight of the handlebars starts at 210 grams.
Pro pays particular attention to the aesthetics and integration of the new cockpit. The Tharsis Evo handlebar allows fully internal cable routing for brake and seatpost cables. In combination with the newly introduced Pro Tharsis stem, the result is a particularly tidy cockpit.
The stem is made from 7000 aluminium and is available in three lengths of 35, 40 and 50 millimetres. Weighing from 150 grams, it is designed to offer a balance between stability and lightweight construction. The 0-degree angle of the stem meets the requirements of modern trail and enduro geometries.
The Pro Tharsis Evo cockpit was developed in close coordination with the new Shimano XTR M9200 Di2 groupset. It is designed to support the full functionality of the electronic shifting group and at the same time offer a visually appealing overall package.
Pro also offers the option of customising the handlebars. Five different, separately available decal sets make it possible to customise the look to suit personal preferences or other components.
In addition to the orange and purple colours, which are coordinated with the Pro PD-GR400 pedals, blue decals in the Pro design as well as grey and sand-coloured variants are also available for a subtle look.
According to Pro product developer Jelle Damen, the Tharsis Evo handlebars are the result of years of research and development as well as intensive feedback from professional athletes in the field.
With the Tharsis, Pro aims to have designed a handlebar that exceeds the requirements of demanding enduro riders in terms of stiffness and damping, without compromising on durability.
The decision in favour of a two-part system consisting of Handlebars and stem Damen justifies the choice of a single-piece cockpit with the greater customisability. The choice of three stem lengths makes it possible to optimise reach and stack to suit individual preferences and body measurements.
Pro is launching the new Tharsis Evo cockpit at the same time as the Shimano XTR M9200 groupset. The Tharsis Evo handlebars have a recommended retail price of 239.95 euros. Pro quotes an RRP of 149.95 euros for the Tharsis stem. This places the cockpit in the upper price segment for high-quality mountain bike components. Availability in stores is likely to be based on the delivery of the new XTR groupset.
