The new Canyon GR 30 CF wheelset has a total weight of 1525 grams, with the front wheel including rim tape weighing 715 grams and the rear wheel with rim tape and Microspline freehub body weighing 810 grams. The carbon rims have a depth of 30 millimetres, which, according to the manufacturer, should improve aerodynamics and ensure high crosswind stability.

Canyon has opted for a hookless rim design with an inner width of 27 millimetres and an outer width of 33 millimetres, which should provide optimum conditions for wide gravel tyres. This geometry enables the use of tubeless tyres with low air pressure, which promises more comfort, better traction and higher speeds on uneven surfaces.

The combination of a moderate rim profile and balanced width aims to achieve an optimum balance between aerodynamics, weight and stability - factors that are particularly important in the gravel segment with its diverse requirements.

Cooperation with DT Swiss

For the technical components inside the wheels, Canyon has decided to collaborate with the renowned Swiss manufacturer DT Swiss. The wheels are fitted with DT Swiss 350 Spline hubs, which are renowned in the industry for their reliability, performance and ease of maintenance.

A particular advantage of these hubs is the ease with which spokes can be changed, which increases the durability and serviceability of the wheels. DT Swiss Aerocomp spokes are used, which are designed to offer a balanced ratio of weight, aerodynamics and stability. This combination of Canyon rim technology and proven DT Swiss components emphasises the performance claim of the new wheelset.

Practice-orientated design

In addition to the technical aspects, Canyon has also focussed on a well thought-out overall concept. The typically clear Canyon design language of the bikes is also continued in the new wheels. A practical special feature is the info box directly on the rim, which provides all the important information on tyre compatibility and the optimum air pressure. This practice-orientated solution saves users having to consult the manual and enables quick orientation directly on the product.

Maxime Brunand, Senior Product Manager at Canyon, emphasises the importance of this step: "This is a new chapter in the Canyon story. With decades of experience and expertise, we are now launching our first wheelset on the market - a sophisticated performance product that harmonises perfectly with our bikes."

Quality assurance and future plans

In order to fulfil the high quality standards, Canyon says it has set up new testing facilities at its production sites. These are designed to ensure that the wheels can withstand all the stresses of demanding gravel use and offer the reliability that Canyon is known for.

Brunand also emphasises the advantages for customers: easier maintenance, a transparent warranty process and a strong price-performance ratio. With a price of 899 euros per pair, Canyon is positioning itself in the mid-price segment for carbon wheels. The manufacturer has already announced that the product range will be expanded in the future. Further wheel models are planned for 2026, which will presumably cover other areas of use such as road and mountain biking.

Brunand hints that future models will also be specifically tailored to the requirements of the various disciplines and will offer the same Canyon-typical combination of design, performance and value for money.
