With the new Ultra series, NonPlus Components is entering the performance terrain in the road bike and gravel segment. It starts with a real statement: according to the manufacturer, the Ultra hub is one of the lightest centrelock hub sets in the world. The total weight of 187 grams is divided into approximately 59.7 grams for the front hub and around 127.5 grams for the rear hub with XDR freehub.
The Ultra hub features a range of technical innovations designed to maximise performance. A high-speed seal with anti-friction coating is designed to minimise rolling resistance while providing optimum weather protection. The freehub body and toothed pulley are provided with a friction-optimised special coating to ensure efficient propulsion and minimised idling losses. Ceramic bearings from Enduro are used for silky-smooth running and maximum resilience and are available in Zero, Black-Oxide and Ceramic Hybrid versions.
When designing the Ultra hub, NonPlus Components paid particular attention to its geometry. An optimised spoke angle and an outwardly shifted drive side should ensure greater lateral stiffness and durability. The hubs are available in the configuration 12x100 millimetres for the front wheel and 12x142 millimetres for the rear wheel and are supplied with 24 holes. Visually, the set is presented in a subtle matt black colour.
The Ultra hubs are designed for use in the gravel and cyclocross sector as well as for racing bikes. NonPlus Components is thus addressing a broad target group of riders who value minimum weight combined with high resilience. The Ultra hub was launched on 1 June 2025. Interested parties can pre-order the hub set, with deliveries expected to start at the end of July 2025 (calendar week 30) according to the manufacturer.
With a recommended retail price of 1695 euros for the complete hub set, NonPlus Components is clearly positioning the Ultra series in the high-end segment. This price reflects the high-quality materials used, the elaborate design and the targeted leading position in the lightweight construction segment. Whether the Ultra hubs can prevail against established competitors remains to be seen in practice and in independent tests.
