Reserve equips its MTB wheels with the new Degree of Freedom technology from DT Swiss as standard and becomes an aftermarket partner. The DF hubs with 350 base offer three adjustable degrees of freedom between 0° and 20° to eliminate pedal kickback.

Reserve is expanding its partnership with DT Swiss and will equip almost all MTB wheels with the innovative Degree of Freedom technology in future. We have already tested this technology extensively here. The new 350-based DF hub allows riders to precisely adjust the degree of freedom between the drivetrain and rear suspension for the first time. This cooperation brings a low-maintenance solution to the market that effectively reduces pedal kickback - and should therefore improve the rear suspension on every bike.

The partnership combines Reserve's rim expertise with DT Swiss' hub innovation. The DF technology is integrated into the existing wheelset range at no extra cost.

DT Swiss DF technology: what it can do

The Degree of Freedom hubs use the tried and tested 350 platform from DT Swiss with optimised ratchet mechanism. The 90T ratchets ensure fast engagement, while the precise 4° engagement angle ensures direct response behaviour. This basic technology remains unchanged and offers the usual reliability.

The new DF system extends this basis with three selectable degrees of freedom: 0°, 10° and 20°. Riders can switch between these settings and thus optimise the degree of decoupling between the pedal drive and rear suspension. The adjustment is tool-free and enables quick adaptations to different terrain requirements.

Reserve integration for all categories

Reserve implements DF technology in both carbon and aluminium wheels. The entire MTB range will receive the new hubs as standard, giving every customer access to the technology. This comprehensive introduction emphasises the confidence of both partners in the innovation.

The wheels leave the factory in the 0° setting, which corresponds to the standard behaviour. Riders can then experiment with the 10° and 20° settings to find their optimum setup. The different degrees of freedom are suitable for different riding styles and types of terrain.

Warranty and availability

Reserve maintains its lifetime warranty on all rims, regardless of the new hub technology. This warranty policy remains a core feature of the brand and extends to the entire product range. The DF hubs themselves are subject to DT Swiss' standard warranty conditions.

The first wheels with DF technology are already available. Reserve is not planning any price adjustments for the new technology, allowing customers to benefit from the innovation at no extra cost. The changeover will take place gradually across all model ranges. The prices per wheelset are between 699 (aluminium) and 1899 (carbon DH) euros.
