The American suspension manufacturer Fox is expanding its Transfer Neo range with a 225 millimetre travel version for taller riders or extreme trails. The wireless seatpost uses a proprietary wireless protocol which, according to the manufacturer, should set new standards in terms of response speed. The Neo system works with a latency of just 26 milliseconds between lever pressure and lowering.
When lowered, the Transfer Neo measures just 47 millimetres from the underside of the control unit to the centre of the saddle rails. This corresponds to an improvement of 18 millimetres compared to other wireless telescopic supports. The new 225 millimetre version complements the existing stroke lengths of 100 mm, 125 mm, 150 mm, 175 mm and 200 mm.
Fox has strategically positioned the battery and motor for maximum tyre clearance. Even when the suspension is fully compressed, there is no risk of collision with the rear wheel. The design is intended to eliminate the typical problems of other wireless systems, where the battery is sometimes in the way.
The in-house Neo protocol is automatically activated by the shake-to-wake function as soon as the bike starts moving. After five minutes of inactivity, the system switches to sleep mode. There is no need for a separate power button.
The main battery lasts 30 to 40 hours, depending on the frequency of use. Charging takes 1.25 to 1.5 hours via the USB dock supplied. The lever works with a CR2032 button cell, which lasts for around twelve months and can be replaced without tools.
The Transfer Neo is available in 30.9 mm, 31.6 mm and 34.9 mm diameters. The 34.9 mm version uses an optimised design with an adapted stanchion and down tube. This reduces weight and friction compared to other models that combine a 31.6 mm top tube with a thicker down tube.
All variants utilise the same slimline head as the mechanical transfer series. The 2-bolt system offers infinitely variable angle adjustment and a high level of safety. A Schrader valve on the post head enables simple pressure adjustments depending on the terrain or rider weight.
The transfer neo lever reduces the idle travel by a factor of six compared to the mechanical version. The IPX7 rating guarantees watertightness even under extreme conditions. The scope of delivery includes mounts for standard 22.2 mm, MatchMaker and I-Spec EV. The ergonomic shape is designed to provide a natural feel.
The new Fox Bike App fully supports the Transfer Neo. Riders can load firmware updates, monitor components and activate special modes. The Bike Park Mode and Transport Mode adapt the behaviour to different areas of use.
The system automatically counts the activations and notifies you when a service is due after 8000 cycles. This method is more precise than tracking driving hours. The dust wiper can be easily removed and re-greased to extend the service intervals.
