Decathlon Rockrider is launching new items for autumn and winter. The new collection comprises five products designed to offer protection in adverse weather conditions and on slippery trails. Unfortunately, these conditions will soon return. But you want to be prepared. The new items centre on safety technologies such as MIPS and D3O, which are designed to offer effective protection, especially in the event of a fall. The product range extends from helmets and protectors to weatherproof clothing.
The special feature of the MTB Feel 900 Mips helmet is the integrated Mips technology (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System), which is designed to offer a decisive safety advantage. In contrast to conventional helmets, which mainly protect against direct impact forces, the Mips technology reduces the rotational forces that can act on the brain in the event of oblique impacts. This is particularly relevant for mountain bikers, as off-road falls are rarely straightforward and often involve a rotational movement. According to the manufacturer, the helmet has 17 generously dimensioned ventilation openings, which are designed to ensure effective air circulation even during strenuous climbs and high levels of physical activity. This should prevent overheating and ensure comfort even on longer tours. The helmet's adjustment system allows it to be customised to different head shapes and sizes, which should not only increase comfort but also improve the protective effect, as an optimally fitting helmet can provide better protection in the event of a fall.
The Knee protectors MTB Allmountain Enduro Light use the innovative D3O technology, which represents a compromise between freedom of movement and protection. The material is soft and flexible in its normal state, which increases comfort and hardly restricts movement when pedalling. In the event of an impact, however, the material changes its properties at lightning speed and hardens to absorb and distribute the impact energy. This property makes the protectors particularly suitable for longer tours where both efficiency and protection on technical passages are important. The breathable construction is also designed to prevent heat build-up, which increases comfort, especially during intense physical exertion. The protectors are designed so that they can be worn comfortably under trousers, which is a particular advantage in the cold season. The ergonomic cut and well thought-out fit are designed to ensure that the protectors do not slip and always remain optimally positioned, even during intensive movements and longer descents.
In addition to the knee protectors, Rockrider offers the D3O Ghost back protector, which works according to the same technological principle. This ultra-thin and lightweight protector has been developed to offer maximum protection with minimum interference. It moulds to the shape of the body and is barely noticeable when worn, making it an ideal companion for demanding trails where full freedom of movement is required. The flexible construction allows the protector to adapt to the body's natural movements without causing any restrictions. The protector can also be used in other sports such as skiing or snowboarding. The breathable mesh construction is designed to ensure a comfortable body climate by promoting air exchange and wicking away moisture. This should make the protector comfortable to wear even under several layers of clothing in cold temperatures, without excessive sweating or heat build-up.
The All mountain rain jacket from Rockrider has a water column of 10,000 mm. In combination with taped seams, it offers reliable protection against rain and splashing water without neglecting breathability. This is particularly important as moisture produced during physical exertion must be transported to the outside to prevent hypothermia. The sporty unisex cut of the jacket ensures comfort when mountain biking. Enough freedom of movement, no unnecessary flapping. Practical details such as reflective elements increase visibility in low light conditions, which improves safety, especially in the darker months of the year. The helmet-compatible hood can be worn over a cycle helmet. Functional pockets offer storage space for small items such as energy bars or keys and are positioned so that they are easily accessible while riding.
The water-repellent All Mountain MTB trousers complete the Decathlon Rockrider equipment line and are specially designed for riding in wet conditions. The robust material provides special protection against splash water and mud. The ergonomic cut offers sufficient space for knee protectors - so different pieces of equipment can be easily combined. Particularly exposed areas are reinforced to increase durability and protect against abrasion. Pockets offer space for tools, energy bars or other small items that need to be close at hand during the tour. The water-repellent properties ensure that light rain and splashes roll off, while the breathability of the material prevents moisture from building up inside. This contributes to wearer comfort and helps to regulate body temperature even in changing weather conditions and with varying levels of exertion.
