The Canadian manufacturer 7mesh, known for its technical performance cycling clothing, is breaking new ground with the new Guardian Collection. The collection marks the company's first foray into the field of multi-sport functional clothing and includes two ultra-light hardshell jackets and a pair of hardshell trousers.
All models are equipped with the PFAS-free Goretex EPE membrane and have been designed for a wide range of outdoor activities - from cycling and ski touring to climbing. One-does-it-all items at an acceptable price; this much can already be revealed.
The 7mesh Guardian Collection combines nylon as the outer fabric with the Goretex EPE membrane (expanded polyethylene) and a recycled inner fabric. According to 7mesh, this combination of materials is designed to provide a high level of weather protection while remaining lightweight.
The use of the PFAS-free membrane and recycled materials also contributes to a reduced ecological CO₂ footprint. All products in the collection are both bluesign and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, which emphasises the company's sustainability efforts.
When we founded 7mesh, we wanted to rethink cycling clothing for demanding adventures. After ten years of innovation in cycling, we felt that the outdoor clothing industry also needed fresh impetus. With the Guardian Collection, we set new standards for ultralight, fully functional rainwear. - Tyler Jordan, CEO and co-founder of 7mesh

The Guardian models are characterised by a special cut designed to allow maximum freedom of movement. Other features include a helmet-compatible CrossPull hood, which can also be adjusted with one hand using gloves, StashSystem pockets for smartphones, hood fastening and ventilation zips for temperature regulation. Another remarkable and very practical feature is that the jackets can be packed into themselves for a small packing volume.
The 7mesh Guardian Air Jacket is the lightest model in the collection, weighing just 200 grams (men's model) and 180 grams (women's model). And much lighter than other rain jackets, for example the Norrona Goretex Pro, which weighs more than twice as much at 424 grams.
The Guardian Air was specially developed for fast-moving athletes who value low weight and good packability without having to compromise on weather protection. 7mesh has positioned the jacket as the ideal companion for sporty mountain bikers who want to gain metres in altitude in changeable weather.
At 310 grams (men's model) and 280 grams (women's model), the Guardian Apex Jacket from 7mesh is slightly heavier than the Air version, but offers additional features such as underarm ventilation for rapid heat dissipation. The rain jacket was developed for adventurers who blur the boundaries between different outdoor disciplines. The outer material is made from 40-denier recycled high-tenacity nylon, which is significantly more durable than the 15-denier ripstop of the Air version.
The matching 7mesh Guardian Apex rain trousers complete the collection and weigh 250 grams (men's model) or 225 grams (women's model). They have a new cut pattern designed to ensure freedom of movement for various sports, as well as an ergonomic fit with abrasion-resistant seat and leg cuffs. Practical features such as an integrated belt with an adjustable waistband and side leg zips for easy donning and doffing round off the functional package, especially for bike use.
7mesh was founded in 2013 by former Arc'teryx managers and product designers. A brand that is particularly well known in skiing and mountain sports. With the Guardian Collection, the company uses all its expertise to create outerwear that moves effortlessly between different sports and areas of use.
The 7mesh Guardian Collection is now available on the 7mesh website and from selected specialist retailers.
