The price-performance ratio of the floor pump, the light set and the gloves convinced us. In total, this shopping basket cost us less than 25 euros. For that we got really decent, functioning products: The floor pump at a price of nine euros stands firmly on the ground, the valve is easy to operate and the pressure gauge is very easy to read.
The premium LED bike light set with front and rear light (with integrated brake light) is an absolute bargain at a price of 10 euros. In terms of light output and ease of use, the headlight and rear light are in no way inferior to comparable products from well-known manufacturers. Only the holders made for round handlebars and seat posts cause problems for owners of aero bikes with aerodynamically optimised cockpits and seat posts.
A pair of cycling gloves costs just 5 euros, half the price of a floor pump or rear light, but a fraction of the price of cycling gloves from well-known brands. Tip: Choose one or two sizes smaller, as they run large.
The Floor pump from Aldi features a robust steel cylinder and a sturdy pump base with a profiled tread that provides a secure grip when pumping. The ergonomic handle with soft-touch inserts ensures comfortable operation, while the large, easy-to-read pressure gauge displays pressures of up to 11 bar. The universal double pump head is suitable for Presta and Schrader valves, i.e. for bicycle and car valves, making the pump extremely versatile. An adapter set for balls, air mattresses and other inflatables is also included, which significantly extends the range of applications.
The floor pump from Aldi makes a solid impression. Thanks to its low overall height of 71 cm, smaller people can manage it well, while taller people have to bend down more - the handle is also rather compact. The large pressure gauge with external bar scale, which is rarely found in this price range, is very successful. The stability could be better, but is sufficient for pressures up to five bar without any problems. The pump head works reliably with Presta and Schrader valves (bicycle and car valves), the 110 cm long hose is practical. Plus points for the accessory compartment and the customer-friendly three-year warranty.
The premium LED light set consists of a front light with an integrated display that shows the battery status and light level, as well as a rear light with an intelligent brake light function. The headlight offers four switchable light levels up to 100 lux and automatically adapts to the surroundings thanks to the light sensor. An 1800 mAh battery ensures long runtimes and is charged via USB-C. The rear light uses bright OSRAM LEDs, is protected to IP55 and can be mounted without tools. Both Bicycle lights have quick-release mounts and offer lateral visibility for greater safety.
The lamp sets from Aldi used to offer solid basic quality, but now the USB-C chargeable Ride+Go set with OSRAM LEDs for just under €10 can easily keep up with branded products in the lower price range from around €50.
The 134 g headlight impresses with an almost glare-free carpet of light and good illumination. The battery indicator works reliably, and the reserve indicator for half an hour of remaining light is also great. When fully charged, the headlight shines for two and a half hours at the highest light level.
The 37 g rear light shines brightly and offers 180 degree visibility to the rear and side; the integrated brake light worked reliably in the test. We also liked the manageable charging time of two hours and the intuitive operation. The mounts fit on round handlebars and seat posts, but still work on slim aero shapes up to approx. 30 mm. Plus point: three-year guarantee.
The short cut Cycling gloves consist of a knitted back of the hand with elasticated spandex and air-permeable mesh fabric on the thumb. They are available in black, grey and blue and are offered in men's and women's sizes for 4.99 euros. Lightweight, flexible and with practical pull-off aids and reflective elements, they are suitable for everyday use and leisure.
The cycling gloves from Aldi are comparatively large, so we recommend choosing one or two sizes smaller. The €4.99 gloves then fit well and offer a comfortable grip. The gel pads are not bulky and provide direct contact with the handlebars. The removal aids are practical and the reflective strip increases visibility in road traffic. The quality of workmanship corresponds to the favourable price level and is absolutely sufficient for everyday use.
Aldi surprises with solid quality at very low prices. The floor pump works reliably and scores points with its large pressure gauge, even if it is a little low for tall riders. The LED light set impresses with its strong luminosity, good battery life and useful brake light function - a real highlight. The cycling gloves fit well in a smaller size, offer direct contact with the handlebars and are well made. All in all, a strong price-performance package for everyday cyclists and cyclists.
