The YT Decoy scored two test victories in our big enduro comparisons of recent years. EMTB readers also voted the mail-order bike the most coveted E-Enduro of 2020. For 2022, the Forchheim-based company has finally given its successful enduro bike the EP8 from Shimano and brought the e-bike up to date. We were accordingly disappointed when the newcomer didn't arrive in time for our enduro comparison test in EMTB 4/21. Without further ado, we decided to catch up on the comparison. The Decoy competes in its most sophisticated configuration against the test winner from our last issue: the Specialised Levo Expert.
The two candidates have a few things in common: For example, the carbon frame and the MX wheel mix with a large front and small rear wheel. In addition, both bikes weigh less than 23 kilos - making them lightweight E-MTBs, despite their full downhill power. The Specialized Levo even achieves this feat with a large battery with 700 watt hours, whereas YT still relies on the small 540 watt battery. There are also similarities in the practical test. You feel comfortable on both bikes as soon as you get on. Without much familiarisation, you can confidently throw yourself into the fun of the trail. It is therefore not surprising that both bikes have very similar geometry data.
You can find out who won the test duel from EMTB 5/2021 in the test report. You can download it as a PDF below the article. The test costs 1.99 euros.
Why not free of charge? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to the tests in EMTB. We don't pay for them, but the opposite is the case: we charge for them, namely tens of thousands of euros every year.
