During development, the Scicon Sports Innovation & Design Centre worked closely with opticians and athletes with visual impairments. The riders of UAE Team Emirates, including Tadej Pogačar, were also involved in the development process. "I am delighted with the end result," explains designer David Michaud. "Aerobeam Titanium is a project I've been working on for a long time: The model offers opticians several technical options to easily insert prescription lenses and provides athletes with a solution for their visual impairment. The glasses cost from 240 euros and are available from the manufacturer's website and from specialist retailers.
The Aerobeam Titanium is characterised by several technical features that predestine it for use in sports. The model has titanium temples with adjustable TactiGrip ends to ensure a secure fit. The goggles are equipped with the Vortex Flow ventilation system to reduce fogging. The adjustable Flexifit 2.0 nose bridge enables customised adjustment to different face shapes. The "EZSwitch" quick-change system is used to change the lenses.
There are various options for integrating prescription lenses: The glasses offer an optical insert with Nylor fastening system as well as optical adapters in two sizes. Reading lenses in three different strengths are also available. More than 13 lenses with high-contrast filters are available for the sun version, including polarised and photochromic variants. According to the manufacturer, all lenses are equipped with a water-repellent coating and an anti-fog coating.
The special thing about the Aerobeam Titanium is that it can be worn during sport and in everyday life. The glasses combine classic aesthetics with technical details and will be available in several colour variants. The scope of delivery includes a hard case and a microfibre bag as well as a replacement lens. After purchasing the glasses or optical insert, customers must contact their optician to select and fit the prescription lenses best suited to their individual needs. The glasses are therefore aimed at sportsmen and women who are looking for sports glasses that can be worn during training and competitions as well as in everyday life and offer optimum vision thanks to customised prescription lenses.
