The programme of this year's BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang, organised by Delius Klasing Verlag, offered plenty of action and highlights for mountain bike fans. In addition to the usual hustle and bustle of the trade fair with new trends from well-known exhibitors and hundreds of test bikes, the free workshops and tours organised by the BIKE Academy at the festival site right next to "The Epic Bikepark Leogang" were particularly attractive.
Bikers aged ten and over were able to get tips and tricks at the "Rookies Bike Ride" with Elias Schwärzler get. At the "Bitburger 0.0% Ladies Ride out", the female mountain bikers were infected by Hanna Steinthaler's power, while downhill pro Andi Kolb passed on his knowledge on the World Cup course. And during the other tours and workshops, many also ventured onto the trails and the pump track in the bike park on their bikes - despite the difficult weather conditions.
"We absolutely made the best of the current conditions," summarises Linda Wanzke, Event Manager at Delius Klasing Verlag. And although the Open Night on the Expo grounds unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the weather, the atmosphere at the subsequent festival party in the B3 Bar was all the better. Not a trace of a bad-weather mood.
A real crowd-puller was Bike artist and YouTube star Fabio Wibmer. Due to the weather, his show was quickly moved to the underground car park, where Wibmer thrilled his audience with spectacular flips and stunts and also took a lot of time for his fans afterwards - including many young up-and-coming bikers, some of whom then dared to get on their bikes themselves on the Sunday of the festival.
Around 70 children took part in the popular Scott Junior Trophy on the pump track. The youngsters were in no way deterred by the wet and cold, and so they happily completed their laps to the cheers of their parents and spectators. At the end, of course, there were medals and a big award ceremony on the BIKE stage.
Johannes Niemann, project manager of the BIKE Festival from the organising agency Yunique: "The adapted concept has absolutely proved its worth, so we will be expanding the workshop area next year to offer visitors even more action."
The date for the fifth edition of the BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang has already been set: From 15 to 17 September 2023 everything at and around the Bikepark Leogang will once again revolve around (e-)mountain biking.
