Pump it, baby! Pumping with Joost Wichmann

The Dutchman Joost Wichmann is one of the most influential personalities in four-cross. He celebrated numerous international successes and crowned his career with the world championship title in 2013. Today, he is known far beyond the racing scene, particularly through his involvement in the Pump track biking. This discipline thrives on "pumping" - the rhythmic pushing and releasing of the bike to generate speed through body movement alone, without pedalling hard. Wichmann not only inspires with his own technique and flow, but also with his ability to pass on the fascination of the pump track to young and amateur riders. With the programme he created Pump Battle Series he creates exciting competitions in which professional and amateur athletes and children compete together.
Here at the BIKE Festival, he gave tips and tricks for more speed on the pump track. Joost will also be giving workshops on the Saturday and Sunday of the event.

Good night and see you tomorrow - over and out!

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
