The 6th BIKE Festival in Saalfelden Leogang is history: three days full of workshops with scene stars, test bikes to try out and bike park action. For all those who weren't there: We'll show you what you missed.

The BIKE Festival attracted bikers from all over Central Europe to Leogang. Around 8,000 visitors bustled around the Expo site, talking shop with like-minded people and borrowing test bikes - for example from Decathlon (Rockrider), Nicolai or Scott. The Expo area remained comparatively empty, and that's a good thing. After all, the special thing about the BIKE Festival in Leogang is that it is held directly at the valley station of the bike park. This meant that most visitors were out and about on the many trails. Highlight: The new trails Back to the roots, Gateway, Hangover and T-Line.

Only on Sunday did it rain from time to time.

Instead of just strolling around, visitors were drawn to the park trails - either with friends or in workshops with professionals. For example with Marlena Neißl (DH racer), David Trummer (DH vice world champion), Elias Schwärzler (YouTube star), Stefan Schlie (trials ace), Joost Wichmann (fourcross world champion) or Lukas Knopf (slopestyler and YouTuber).

The workshops at the BIKE Academy did not take place on the bike, but were nevertheless practical. It was all about the bike: adjusting the gears, bleeding the brakes or servicing the suspension fork and drivetrain yourself. Small groups were shown step by step how to do it. And, of course, the participants were allowed to lend a hand themselves.

Fascination trial show

Trial rider Thomas Klausner impressed visitors to the Expo with his outstanding cycling skills. With exceptional balance and control, he masters spectacular obstacles and has already secured the title of national champion several times. At international level, he attracted attention with impressive world records, including over 1,200 consecutive rear wheel jumps and a daring drop-gap jump from a height of two metres over a distance of almost four metres. As a permanent fixture on the bike scene, Klausner fascinates audiences at shows, such as here at the BIKE Festival in Leogang.

Airtime with Elias & Lukas

Lukas Knopf impressed with breathtaking jumps, smooth landings and the enthusiastic applause of his young fans during his bag jump session. Despite the changeable weather, the spectators didn't miss out on the opportunity to ride side by side with one of their bike idols and receive valuable tips from the social media star. In the afternoon, it was "Experts Only" again: at the Hot Shots Ride organised by Klosterkitchen, Knopf impressively demonstrated what is possible in terms of riding skills on the famous bike park track.

Elias Schwärzler was also active and showed small groups his riding skills on the jumplines in Bikepark Leogang. At the Scott stand, the YouTuber took plenty of time for his fans, signing autographs and posing for selfies.

Young talent at the start

Young riders also had a lot of fun: around 150 girls and boys gained their first racing experience at the fully booked VPACE Kids Cup and showed that they are also already real pros on the bike. On Sunday, things got particularly exciting at the Scott Junior Trophy Pumptrack, where 40 young riders competed on the World Champs Pumptrack. With impressive jumps and action-packed lines, they created an excellent competitive atmosphere.

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
