Update: We still have the muddy pictures from the 2022 Downhill Word Cup in our heads. Back then, a training run was cancelled due to fog, rain and icy temperatures, and most of the racers got stuck in the mud during the race. This is exactly the weather scenario that is forecast for the coming weekend. It is therefore with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel the BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang for next weekend (13-15 September). But we are already looking forward to next year!
40 workshops in three days - getting through the whole festival programme live is of course more difficult than watching clips on YouTube at home. So it's best to think in advance about which of the many pros you want to follow around Leogang's bike park trails and whose moves you want to learn. Because here you can really ask the pros questions all day long. They will also give you tips for the two races that take place in Leogang: One is the Scott Junior Trophy, which is held in the large pump track in front of a traditionally loudly cheering crowd. And now brand new: the Kids Cup. Here, the 5 to 10-year-olds compete in a technically less demanding mini downhill. Of course, there's plenty to win again.
The 60 festival exhibitors will also be bringing plenty of material to test: the latest bikes and all kinds of accessories to touch and try out. Parents particularly appreciate the large selection of models for children, which is simply not available in bike shops.
BIKE Academy Workshops: How do you set up your suspension perfectly? What to do if the gears jump or the brakes squeal annoyingly? How do I service my suspension fork myself? At the BIKE Magazine stand, the test editors of BIKE Magazine will once again be giving courses for mechanics, but will also be on hand to answer all other technical questions.
Evening programme highlight: No BIKE Festival without a marathon - in Leogang, the big party takes over on Saturday. DJ Max Teaser will make sure that as many participants as possible head for the Ronda Extrema of the dancefloor.
A total of ten pros, who are otherwise mainly known from their tutorials on YouTube, will be on hand in Leogang. In Leogang, they will finally be able to perform live and you'd better be there:
Dirt jump, slopestyle, freeride - the 26-year-old from Chemnitz can do it all and inspires almost 500,000 subscribers on YouTube. At the festival in Leogang, he gives bag jump sessions and guided hot-shot rides for experts. Photographers will of course be on hand to capture your newly learnt moves.
He once pulled off the first backflip in a flat dirtline: Timo Pritzel from Berlin is one of the legends of biking. He offers yoga courses in Leogang. You'll be surprised how much stability this gives you on the downhill!
The professional trial biker has been in the saddle himself since he was five years old. Last year, he broke two world records: the most jumps on the rear wheel (1214!) and the longest drop gap (3.90 metres). His shows have become cult.
Over a million followers: Elias is a professional downhiller himself. He wants to pass on his knowledge to the next generation and has therefore founded the "Senders Academy", the first holistic MTB academy in the German-speaking world. The associated Instagram channel provides information about mountain biking as well as error analyses. At the festival in Leogang, he takes the DH rookies under his wing.
He was one of the fastest downhillers in Germany, but then discovered his great talent as a commentator. Jasper knows everything about the downhill scene, is always in a good mood and knows how to get the coolest moves down the fastest.
The Dutchman first sat on a BMX bike at the age of four, and at the age of 35 he crowned his impressive career in Leogang with the world title in Four Cross (2013). So if anyone moves smoothly on the festival pump track, it's probably him.
