At first glance, a fully equipped bike with dynamo, front and rear lights, pannier rack and even a kickstand and bell has nothing to do with a speedster. The Cube Hyde Pro EF also looks really bulky. Nevertheless, the super-stiff but weight-reduced aluminium frame and slim carbon fork invite you to step on the gas.
Unfortunately, the handlebar width is more extreme: 70 cm would be practical for tough off-road use, but you could shorten each side by a good five to eight cm for city riding. This even gives you enough grip over the front wheel if you mount and fill the cool front panniers from the same company. This means you always have your expensive belongings in view and the low centre of gravity hardly affects the riding dynamics at all.
Additional benefits: Rear panniers are considered a bit stuffy again, but front panniers have something more individual! What we liked best about the Cube was the wheel/tyre combination. The frame holds thick 55 mm tyres, despite mudguards, the "Big Apple" has enough puncture protection and rolls great despite the size, which may also be due to the good rims. Additional pro: For unpaved and above all uneven paths, the thick tyres are a real gain in comfort and safety.
A city runabout for rough terrain or an unagitated all-rounder - the Cube Hyde Pro EF combines a lot of good things from several worlds - and doesn't just feel at home in the city.
