The lightweight Enduro Light knee pads from Rockrider are designed so that you hardly notice them when biking and can move around freely. But how good are they in really tricky situations - is the protection enough? Our detailed test shows!

The minimalist knee pads from Rockrider hug the knees like a second skin. Stocking and D3O protector merge into a single unit that doesn't get in the way when pedalling or downhill: no pressure points, no slipping thanks to the rubberised upper waistband, no snagging. Ventilation on hot days? Top!

The Rockrider Enduro Light D3O in detail

  • Tester: Max Fuchs
  • Weight: 277 grams (size M)
  • Price: 50 Euro >> available here
  • Upholstery: 100 % thermoplastic polyurethane
  • Main fabric: 18 % elastane, 82 % polyamide
  • Rubber: 12 % elastane, 88 % polyamide
  • Mesh: 34 % elastane, 66 % polyamide

Also good: Whether it's a shower or a sweat bath - the Light protectors dry in a flash. In an emergency, the otherwise flexible D3O material hardens and absorbs the impact energy - or so the theory goes. Fortunately, the worst-case scenario did not materialise during the test phase. Because the Rockrider Enduro Light are not built for maximum protection. They sit rather loosely and slip quickly if you get caught somewhere. Due to the numerous openings in the D3O material, they also offer hardly any protection against sharp objects.

How do you like this article?
The Rockrider Enduro Light fit like a second skin, don't get in the way when pedalling or downhill and stay dry even in heat or sweat - absolutely comfortable to wear. However, if you are looking for maximum protection, you are wrong: they are light, airy and offer hardly any protection against sharp objects. They are perfect for easy-going riding fun without hard falls, but not so much for hard use and demanding terrain. The price is hot! - Max Fuchs, test editor BIKE
