Wow: Both floor pumps cost around 10 euros - that's not much money for fully-fledged workshop helpers. The first impression of both pumps is solid, and the accessories are almost identical. However, there are differences: The Lidl XL pump is around five centimetres higher, has a thicker cylinder and a larger pump head. Does it really deliver more pressure than the Aldi pump? Rather doubtful. The pressure gauge, on the other hand, is the same: both displays are large, clearly scaled and easy to read. The prices of Lidl products change like petrol prices at the filling station. If you're lucky, you can save a few euros.
The XL floor pump from Lidl for 11.99 euros A very large stroke volume of 476 cm³ and therefore noticeably more air per stroke than standard pumps. The wide steel base provides a secure hold and the ergonomic soft-touch handle is comfortable to hold. The high-quality double pump head fits car and racing bike valves (Schrader and Presta), the high-pressure hose is neatly secured with a clip. The integrated pressure gauge measures up to 11 bar and is easy to read. With the enclosed adapter set, balls, air mattresses and toys can also be inflated. A robust, powerful pump for everyday use and sport.
The floor pump from Aldi offers solid features for its favourable price: a robust steel cylinder ensures stability, the wide pump base stands securely and the soft-touch handles are comfortable to hold. The universal double pump head fits car and racing bike valves (Schrader and Presta) and is compatible with all common bicycle tyres. The large, easy-to-read pressure gauge indicates pressures of up to 11 bar - sufficient for road, gravel and MTB tyres. An extensive adapter set for balls, air mattresses and toys extends the range of applications. All in all, a functional pump suitable for everyday use.
In the end, it is impossible to decide which of the two pumps is the better one - and that is actually the good news. Both models are extremely affordable, well made and come with practical accessories. All common bicycle valves can be operated without any problems, whether gravel bike, road bike, MTB or e-bike. Nevertheless, there are subtle differences that are relevant in practice: The Aldi pump with its slimmer cylinder reaches higher pressures more easily and is therefore particularly suitable for road bikes. It is also lower and therefore ergonomically more comfortable to use, even for shorter people. The Lidl XL pump, on the other hand, has significantly more volume - ideal for quickly inflating wide tyres. At pressures above five bar, however, it requires noticeably more force. All in all, both pumps are real bargains that you can't go wrong with in everyday use. The choice depends above all on the area of use.
