The Munich-Prague route is one of the more recent long-distance cycle routes. In 2010, the existing Regensburg-Prague route was extended to Munich. Five river cycle paths set the direction for the approximately 260 kilometres through Bavaria from Munich to the Czech border near Furth im Wald. There are no major climbs along the Isar, Abens, Danube, Regen and Chamb rivers. The 188-kilometre Bohemian section begins on the other side of the border, but it is much more demanding in terms of fitness. The newly built cycle path no. 3 with a yellow sign leads to Domazlice, the capital of the Czech ethnic group of the Chods. The route continues on low-traffic side roads via Luženičky - Staňkov - Dobřany - Pilsen and Rokycany to the Brdy nature reserve. In the Pürglitz Forest landscape area, you meet the Vienna-Prague long-distance cycle route near the village of Hořovice. From the historically interesting Karlstein Castle, you cycle through the romantic Berounka river valley. Shortly before Prague, the river flows into the Vltava.
