Fun trails on the Schienerberg - here the Redline.
You will almost certainly know one of the two trails, but you probably don't know the other two. Three trails in Baden-Württemberg: Freiburg, Schienerberg, Immendingen.

Brief state facts: Baden-Württemberg is located in south-west Germany and borders France and Switzerland, among others. The state capital is Stuttgart. The state is one of the strongest economic regions in Europe and is home to major companies such as Daimler and Bosch.

So far so good, most of you probably knew that. The following point too: Today's Baden-Württemberg was created in 1952 by merging the formerly independent regions of Baden and Württemberg as part of the German post-war order. Before that, there was just Baden and Württemberg.

But now to the trails. The trails in Freiburg are well-known, those on the Schienerberg near Singen less so - and the one in Immendingen is more or less new.

1 Redline, Schienerberg

1.7 km | 170 m elevation gain | difficulty: medium | preferred bike: enduro

The name is deceptive: although the trails run under the name "Bikepark Schienerberg", there is no commercial park with a lift here. You have to pedal up the trails near Singen on Lake Constance yourself. Three lovingly shaped lines are available. Our favourite: the Redline. A two-kilometre route through the forest with drops, gaps, tables, doubles, wallrides and northshores - all obstacles can also be ridden around. A fun nature trail, peppered with lots of stunts. The Blueline (2.1 km) is a little gentler, but by no means boring. Fans of bigger stunts can venture onto the Blackline (2 km). There is also the short Brown Line nature trail. The day ticket can be easily purchased using a QR code and costs 5 euros.

2 Jumpline, Immendingen

240 m | n. A. hm | Difficulty: difficult | Preferred bike: trail bike

It's not long, but it has the character of Leogang. In Immendingen, between Lake Constance and Villingen-Schwenningen, the company Schanzenwerk has conjured up a small super spot in the forest: three trails with a total length of 1.6 kilometres. The Jumpline is the shortest fun trail, but its 240 metres are a firework display of obstacles: hips, double waves, gaps and berms of Canadian dimensions.

3 Canadian, Freiburg

3.1 km | 450 m elevation gain | Difficulty: medium | Preferred bike: Enduro

The "Canadian" has been inspiring bikers in Badnerland since 2015. The trail at Kybfelsen is easily accessible via forest and woodland paths. The descent can be summarised in one word: Enduro terrain. Sometimes rooty and steep, with berms, then rough again with steps and drops - and often quite demanding in terms of line choice. In between, however, there are also a few smooth passages to take a deep breath. It ends after around 450 metres of descent. But the next downhill fun is already waiting: the "Borderline" trail delivers a similar amount of riding pleasure - and its uphill starts just a few minutes away on the other side of the valley.

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
