The Bike Kingdom of the Swiss Alpine region of Graubünden is heralding in the 2025 mountain bike season with the opening of its three renowned bike parks. The Alpenbikepark Chur, which has been in operation since April, will kick things off. The Bike Kingdom Park Lenzerheide will follow on 17 May, while Arosa will open its doors on Ascension Day on 29 May. We've checked out what's going on in Bike Kingdom Lenzerheide for you.
With this staggered opening, the Bike Kingdom offers riders of all skill levels early access to a diverse trail network. The region presents itself as a comprehensive mountain bike area with over 900 kilometres of trails, ranging from flowing beginner routes to technically demanding routes for professionals. This diversity emphasises the Bike Kingdom's claim to offer a holistic biking experience for a wide range of preferences and abilities.
In the Bike Kingdom Park Lenzerheide, bikers can expect established trails such as the Flowline, the Primeline and the World Cup-proven Straightline. These trails have established themselves as crowd favourites over the years and offer a wide range of challenges.
In Arosa, the Hörnli Trail attracts beginners with its flowing characteristics. The 6.8-kilometre trail winds its way from the Hörnli mountain station down into the valley, giving even less experienced riders a safe and enjoyable downhill experience.
For technically experienced mountain bikers, the high-alpine trail The Great White on the Parpaner Weisshorn is a challenging option. This route requires advanced riding technique and rewards you with breathtaking views of the mountains. The variety of trails in the Bike Kingdom reflects the philosophy of offering suitable options for every riding level and every taste.
The 2025 season in the Bike Kingdom has a packed calendar of events. The Bike Kingdom Opening in Lenzerheide from 7 to 9 June marks the official start of the season on the Whitsun weekend. In addition to perfectly groomed trails, visitors can look forward to an extensive supporting programme with side events and culinary offerings.
The E-Bike Festival, which is dedicated entirely to electrified mountain biking, follows from 20 to 21 June. With test bikes, guided tours and technical workshops, this event appeals to both beginners and experienced e-mountain bikers.
A special highlight is the Last Rider Standing on 5 July. In this team eliminator competition, the participants have to reach the same gondola in ever shorter intervals - a format that demands endurance, tactics and team spirit in equal measure and the opportunity to battle it out with your MTB friends in the best possible weather.
The series of events continues in summer. From 6 July to 16 August, the Late Shred in the Bike Kingdom Park Lenzerheide invites you to go biking in the evening. The extended opening hours until 8 pm are complemented by a varied entertainment programme with concerts, parties and jump shows.
From 11 to 13 July, the Bike Kingdom Hunt Arosa will challenge participants with an innovative mix of scavenger hunt, trail riding and brainteasers. Teams have to ride to checkpoints and complete challenges, with the main prize being won not by the fastest, but by the average time.
Families will get their money's worth at the Family Bike Vibes from 8 to 10 August, where joint rides and skills courses for young and old are on the programme. For technology enthusiasts, the Bike Kingdom Testride from 29 to 31 August offers the opportunity to test the latest models from the top brands on the trails of Lenzerheide.
An absolute highlight of the 2025 season is the return of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series to Lenzerheide from 19 to 21 September. After a one-year break, the cross-country and downhill World Cup elite will once again be competing for victories and important points.
In the cross-country race, all eyes will be on current World Cup leaders Christopher Blevins and Samara Maxwell as well as local hero and record World Cup winner Nino Schurter. The Straightline will once again serve as the venue for the downhill race, where the successors to the last champions Jordan Williams and Rachel Atherton will be determined.
In addition to the exciting races, an extensive expo area and numerous side events will ensure a well-rounded World Cup weekend. Tickets for this bike highlight are already available.
