The TwoNav Terra GPS navigation device is a robust companion for outdoor activities on foot or by bike. With its high-contrast 480x640 pixel Blanview display with optical bonding, seven control buttons and IP67 certification, the device is designed for use in a wide range of weather conditions. Particularly noteworthy are the SeeMe function for live tracking, Wi-Fi connectivity and a battery life of up to 15 hours.

The compact GPS navigation device was developed to meet the requirements of hikers and cyclists. Weighing just 198 grams, the device is characterised by its ergonomic design, which should make it easy to use even in difficult conditions. The powerful Blanview screen with a resolution of 480x640 pixels and optical bonding technology is said to offer good readability even in direct sunlight - a decisive advantage for outdoor navigation when maps and route information need to be clearly recognisable even in bright daylight. The device is operated using a total of seven buttons on the front and side of the device, which should enable precise control even when wearing gloves or in wet conditions.

How do you like this article?

The Terra was designed as a multisport device that should provide reliable navigation services for both hiking and cycling. A special feature is the integrated QuickLock hook, which enables uncomplicated attachment to various carrier systems. This allows the device to be flexibly attached to hiking rucksacks, bicycle handlebars or other vehicle mounts. This versatility makes the Terra a practical companion for various outdoor activities without the need to purchase additional special mounts. A Quicklock handlebar mount is already included in the scope of delivery, which can be mounted on both the handlebars and the stem and enables optimum positioning on the bike with two spacers.

Powerful connectivity and long battery life

A decisive criterion for the reliability of an outdoor navigation device is the battery life. With a stated operating time of up to 15 hours, the Terra should also provide sufficient power for longer trips without recharging. The navigation device has modern connectivity options for connecting to other devices and services: The integrated WLAN supports both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, which should enable fast and stable data transfer. In addition, dual Bluetooth functionality is available to connect sensors such as heart rate monitors or cadence sensors. The internal memory of 32 GB offers sufficient space for detailed maps and recorded tracks, so that reliable navigation should also be possible in regions without mobile phone reception.

Security functions for on the move

With the integrated SeeMe function, the Terra offers a live tracking option that is particularly relevant from a security perspective. This function makes it possible to share the current location and the route travelled in real time with selected contacts. In an emergency, friends or family members can track the user's exact location. A subscription is required to use this function. The cheapest subscription is available for a reasonable 9.99 euros per year. The device also has an I.C.E. function (In Case of Emergency), which can be used to store important emergency information. These safety features make the Terra a valuable companion, especially in remote areas or on challenging tours, where rapid assistance in an emergency can be crucial. The purchase price includes six months' free use of the SeeMe service, which enables immediate access to the safety functions at no additional cost.

Cloud synchronisation and app connection

Today, a modern navigation solution is characterised by seamless integration into digital ecosystems. The Terra offers extensive synchronisation options with various cloud services. Recorded tracks can be saved and managed in the manufacturer's own GO Cloud. The device also supports synchronisation with popular platforms such as Strava, TrainingPeaks, Komoot, Google Drive and Dropbox. This versatility makes it possible to use your own activity data flexibly, share it with others or analyse it in your favourite analysis tools. The TwoNav app (for Android and iOS) and the Link app are available for connecting to smartphones. The scope of delivery also includes a six-month TwoNav PRO subscription, which unlocks extended functions and allows the full range of functions of the device to be used. The TwoNav Pro subscription otherwise costs 59.99 euros per year and offers a whole host of functions. The most popular subscription is called Premium and costs 29.99 euros per year.

Extensive map functions and data fields

The Terra offers a wide range of navigation functions that are specially tailored to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts. Routes for the respective destination area can be downloaded from the Internet and saved on the device. During the tour, prominent points can be marked as waypoints so that you can easily find your way back to them later or share them with others. A practical function is the route deviation alarm, which notifies the user if they deviate from the planned route - particularly helpful in confusing terrain or in poor visibility. There are 120 different data fields available for displaying relevant information during the tour, including altitude, incline, gradient and current position. With the "Track-back" function, the route to the starting point can be displayed at any time or the shortest route home can be calculated - an important safety feature that can be particularly valuable when darkness falls or the weather changes.

Robustness for demanding applications

For an outdoor navigation device, resistance to external influences is a decisive quality feature. The Terra is certified according to the IP67 standard, which means that it is completely dustproof and can withstand temporary immersion in water up to a certain depth and time without damage. In addition, the device fulfils the MIL-STD-810 certification, a military standard that tests the robustness of electronic devices under extreme environmental conditions. These certifications emphasise the Terra's suitability for use in adverse conditions such as rain, snow or dusty environments. In addition to the aforementioned bike mount, the navigation device also comes with a USB-to-USB-C cable, a main map (OSM) and a topographical map, so you can start navigating straight out of the box.
