Giving gifts is something special. A perpetual motion machine of happiness, so to speak. After all, giving gifts to others and expressing true appreciation for them makes more than just the recipient happy. Giving a gift can be even more inspiring than receiving a gift yourself. And so here is my personal Christmas wish list with items that perhaps you have always wanted - to give as a gift or to wish for yourself.
It's like paper handkerchiefs, nut nougat cream or all-purpose glue. There is also a so-called deonym for the group of seamlessly knitted and multifunctional tubular scarves: Buff. Over 30 years ago, Catalan textile manufacturer Joan Rojas invented not only the innovative production method with the Buff scarf, but also the archetype of the tubular multifunctional scarf.
Scarf, hat or headband: a Buff can be anything and warm your neck, ears or head and protect you from the wind or sun. There are now hundreds of variants of the Buff scarf in a wide variety of material and colour combinations. But recycled PET or not. My recommendation is the elegant version made from ethically sourced, two-ply merino wool.
So soft, so warm, so natural. Naturally breathable, quick-drying, naturally odour-inhibiting, renewable and also made in Spain. The Vikings warmed themselves with merino wool and the first Mount Everest conquerors - today, the original functional fibre is experiencing a revival as functional clothing. Price: approx. 35 euros (RRP), sometimes heavily discounted >> available here.
Tidiness is half the battle. Who lives on the other side and has perhaps ever asked themselves: How can I tidy up the bike in my flat? Simply hang it up! There are special wall mounts that can be used to store bikes in the home to save space. The minimalist bike holder pictured above is hardly noticeable, and if it is, it's positive: it's small, available in many colourful designs and for tyre widths from 23 to 57 millimetres. The cuddly little clamp monkey encloses the bicycle tyre and, depending on how it is mounted, the bike can be parked upright or hanging. >> available here.
At first it hurts, then comes the revelation. Anyone who suffers from tension from time to time and would like to experience the redemptive effect of the Fascia massage has experienced before, sticks with it. My conviction. Because, and this is the decisive advantage for me compared to Thai massage or physiotherapy: you don't need an appointment and can do something really good for yourself. Whenever you have the opportunity.
Admittedly, you can also roll over an old rolling pin to work your way to the trigger points. This is much more luxurious with the noble "Releazer" from fascia roller masterpiece Blackroll, which a colleague recommends here together with 23 other gift ideas.
However, massage guns are probably the most comfortable and luxurious. They do most of the work, while you can concentrate on enduring the pain. But it will eventually pass. What remains is well-being.
Our sister magazine TOUR had already Massage guns in the test. The German company Orthomechanik won the price-performance recommendation. New from their company is the above pictured OrthoGo massage gun. The handy massage gun offers 3 massage levels and 4 attachments. And at just under 140 euros, it is reasonably priced.
No special prior knowledge is required for self-massage with the massage guns, although you should avoid the joints, spine and head. And if you are in good company, you can massage each other's backs simply and effectively. At least as long as the battery lasts. If that's not a perpetual motion machine of bliss...
