While most manufacturers are satisfied with 50 or 60 lumens for their rear lights, Lupine is sending a new light with the Red light Pro BT is launching a rear light that is set to set new standards with 120 lumens. In addition, the StVZO-compliant rear light with intelligent brake light and 360-degree beam characteristics is designed to ensure even greater safety on the road.
The secret of the enormous luminosity lies in the LED assembly. Lupine uses 22 Synios LEDs from AMS OSRAM, which were originally developed for the automotive sector. These emitters have a 360-degree beam characteristic which, in combination with the lens, is intended to produce enormous uniformity in the illumination. While conventional lamps struggle with hotspots and dark areas, the Rotlicht Pro BT illuminates absolutely homogeneously in a rich red colour.
The integration of Bluetooth 5.2 should also make operation much easier. This means that the Rotlicht Pro BT can be combined with the newly introduced SL Grano F front light and creates a networked system that switches the front and rear lights synchronously. It can be operated either via the remote control or the button on the housing for maximum flexibility.
The Red Light Pro BT thinks for itself. A brake light sensor registers deceleration and automatically increases the brightness - just like on cars or motorbikes. Following road users are warned immediately if the cyclist brakes. An additional brightness sensor activates the light automatically when it gets dark.
The integrated 840 mAh battery provides up to 10 hours of illumination - enough for long night rides without recharging. At maximum brightness, however, the lighting time is reduced to 2 hours. The lamp is then fully charged again in 2 hours via the USB-C connection. When switched on, the LEDs in the outer light ring indicate the current charge level - a practical feature that many competitor models lack. The housing is made of CNC-milled 6061-T6 aluminium with a black anodised finish and weighs just 55 grams including the seat post mount. The protection classes IPX6 for water resistance and IK09 for impact resistance guarantee durability under the toughest conditions.
The Rotlicht Pro BT fulfils the StVZO requirements without flashing modes and can be mounted on bicycles in Germany. Lupine deliberately dispenses with flashing functions so as not to jeopardise road approval. The light is manufactured entirely by Lupine in Germany. The price of 139 euros may seem high at first glance, but in our opinion it is reasonable in view of the performance data, the quality of workmanship and the extensive features.
